I doubt that anyone considered you a lower life form, but namecalling will certainly not endear you to people.Gone ... or have I?0 -
well I think the endless non-help shows what people think really,
my original question was I want to stop claiming the JSA & do voulanteer work to enhance my CV, my job center have been arkward about the situation, this 13 week course - I'd be going to the job searching for 2 hours going 3 miles for 3 hours volanteer work then back to job search for an hour, they have said it that way or I can go without for 13 weeks & the advice I've recieved has been just awful really.
So no I don't think I'm being arrogant or namecalling, everyone seems to be given silly answers & I was hping for some ideal suggestions to help me.0 -
In what way have your advisors been rude? I am afraid if they have told you that the New Deal course is mandatory and if you wish to continue to claim JSA without fear of a sanction, then that is not being rude, that is just a statement of fact. Ultimately, the choice is yours whether you participate in the course or not. However, if you choose not to go on to the course, you risk an ultimate sanction (when you do not receive any JSA) of 26 weeks at a time for not going. Have you asked to see a Disability Employment Advisor to see if they can provide you with any support? They can generally give you an idea of any other benefits that your health condition may entitle you to or point you in the direction of appropriate support channels. Other than this, what sort of help are you looking for?0

it sounds to me like the OP thought finding volountary work to do would let them off the hook with regards to the 13 week course, the advisor was only doing their job and was right to tell him if you don't go you don't get any JSA, the rules are there for everyone...0

hi oldmotherreilly
thanks for the info - my advisor was quite off puttish not explaining anything when I asked.
lady gaga - your advice - boring & pointless like your namesake.
many thanks for the heads up everyone only 3 have been helpful.
the rest - I hope that at some point I'm the one on the other side of the desk so I can be as cold & unhelpful as you have been to me.

DLA has nothing to do with work. You can only claim DLA if you had care and /or mobility needs which have lasted for 3 months and are expected to last for another 6.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Agoraphobia on its own does not have any care needs. Mild to moderate agoraphobia may have low mobility needs, and severe agoraphobia (where someone cannot go out at all) would be unlikely to qualify for mobility.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Agoraphobia (if you're sure that's what you have) may qualify you for ESA rather than DLA. It's a drawn out process of medical/capability assessments though.
Are you actually incapacitated by the conditions to the extent that you cannot hold down a job?0
