Call centres have hundreds of people in them and so every time you call you will speak to a different person who is trying to help but will have their own ideas. This will eventually confuse and anger you so simply send a letter with you details. It sends you crazy when the site goes down and you think you have not made the booking!!
Yes, the 4th person I talked to advised me to send a fax.
I'm still waiting for a reply. By the way I'm not sure all of them are really trying to help

That's quite easy to check. I don't have any relative with the same name and no one is going to check in for the first flight.
Sorry but when you were booking did the Ryanair computer know this?
I don't understand why you didn't check the 'manage your booking' option before dashing in to re-book - it only takes a few seconds and you don't need a booking ref.
Also this is another reason to use a pre-paid card. I can check mine on-line and it shown virtually instantly when a transaction has go through, giving two ways to check before re-booking.
This probably covers your situation look for the heading "On refunds" under the photograph.

I'm slightly perturbed as to why different outward flights were booked. Ryanair flights only "sell out" when they are full, and by then the fare will probably be £200+. If I'd just spent that much but wasn't sure it had gone through, I'd have checked. If however I'd booked a morning flight by accident, I'd probably try a duplicate booking with the evening flight and try to claim one of them back afterwards, alleging that the website failed0

I wonder if other people would do such a thing? :eek:0 -
I am so 'lucky,' in hundreds of flights with Ryanair
I have never spelt my name wrong on the booking - I can spell my own name.
I have never been charged anything for a bag - I don't take them.
I have never had a problem with my hand baggage - because I can read the max sizes.
I have had only 1 flight cancelled (Volcano - hardly Ryanairs fault)
I have only ever requested 1 refund (Volcano see above) which I received promptly.
I have never been charged more that the amount shown when I made the booking.
I am not charged for using a credit card to make bookings - I use the free option.
I am not charged high food prices - I can take my own if I want.
I have never missed a flight - I arrive early not at the last minute.
My flight nearly always arrive early or at the very least on time.
I have never made a duplicate booking.
90% of the time I get one of MY favourite seats.
I've also flown with budget airlines in/to India, Laos, cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia and many other places and do you know I can't remember any particular problems there either, a few delays but that's about all.
I can recall Cancellations/delays with BA, Monarch, Dan Air (that's a while back now) I think a little common sense helps a lot.0 -

This is absurd. What are the odds dad and son have the same name? The assumption is that's not the case, it just requires commonsense, not computers.Bob_the_Saver wrote: »I don't understand why you didn't check the 'manage your booking' option before dashing in to re-book - it only takes a few seconds and you don't need a booking ref.
Because the final page clearly said there was something wrong in the process and didn't suggest that. Plus the flights had really few seats remaining.Bob_the_Saver wrote: »Also this is another reason to use a pre-paid card. No, this is a reason to use a credit card. If I don't get my money back I will try to use the credit card protection.Bob_the_Saver wrote: »This probably covers your situation look for the heading "On refunds" under the photograph.
Cheers, very helpful.0 -

Yes, and spend precious time and money in phone calls, fax and forums. You are a genius! The point is, it was sure the transaction didn't go through, I got an error. I travel with many airlines and there's never ambiguity on the outcome of the purchase. Success means you have the ticket, error means you don't have it. They teach you how to do that the first day at any computing course. So either the designer of the website is inept or they force these situations on purpose.0 -

I probably travel more frequently than you and I never had any problem as well. Now, I'm not saying Ryanair is rubbish. I'm just stating:
1) The transaction mechanism on the website is clearly not reliable thus I'm asking for my money back
2) The customer service is bad
3) They don't want to refund me? Fine, but at least, tell me before the departure date so that I can at least save something by moving the travel or inviting a friend. It makes no sense to say "you may or may not get the refund".0 -

depending on how much you paid this may be costly
flight change £35 each way and name change £100
how much was the one-way flight that you may not get refunded?0
