ill health dismissal

i know this problem sounds like i am finding fault with everything, but capita didnt do their job, they didnt get all my reports from the gp or the hospital, they made their assessment on very little information, that is why i was turned down for early retirement, my 3 months is up to despute it but i am trying to see if they can give more time since they did not use all my information from the gp and hospital. this is all very confusing to me and i dont want to just take MOD's word for anything at this point. i am going to check with asca like someone had mentioned and take all advise that i have been given from all of you, this is my family and i's life right now and i dont want to take a chance in screwing it up by doing whatever i am told by my employer unless i know its right, if you can understand that.0

What did you do about the capita assessment? Did you complain or appeal it?
From the info you've given you aren't incapable of work, just specific kinds of work, so you weren't eligible for ill health retirement. You need to forget about that and deal with the current situation.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Speak to your HR department and to a union rep (if you have to join the union then in these times it may be a good thing). There is a scheme for retirement on ill-health/medical grounds. It will depend on how long you have been off work, what the prognosis is and many other factors. I believe it starts with a recommendation from occupational health (ATOS is the company as another poster said).Sealed Pot challenge 2011 member 1051 - aiming for £365

A bit late if this has already all happened and the OP didnt invoke their rights properly0 -
i have called to get the approitate papers in from gp and hospital for retirement, of course its always, so and so will have to call you back so i am waiting. as far as being able to work a different job, my angina and calciphied artery in my leg is not going to go away without surgery or loss of my leg, as far as my leg goes, the angina will never go away, they are willing to only put me in a temporary job then put me back where i was, in job i shouldnt have been in anyways, due to health and safety reasons and my physcial condition. its a mess, i know.0

I may be being daft here, but... You worked in the barracks, and in the mess, and the "general" told you that you were being let go. You are a civilian aren't you - not armed forces? Because there has been an assumption that you are a civil servant, and the one thing that appears to be clear here is that the definitely the one thing you aren't! The MOD employs large numbers of civilian staff - many of whom are not civil servants, far from it.
But the previous posters have been right, if you are out of time to appeal the decision because you didn't appeal within the three months, then there is very little that you can do about it. But the situation as to what is going on is far from clear.0 -

Have you never told your employers that you had issues with the report they paid for (with Capita)?
You need occupational health to give a prognosis that you can't work, not just your GP and hospital (who are biased towards you as their patient). The retirement option won't go anywhere if you don't have occ health in agreement.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

first of all i served 9 years in the royal irish, and i am now employed as an MOD civil servant, dont know where you are from but that is what it is called here, so be very careful how you word things, i gave 9 years for my country and i am classified as a civil servant and i have paid my dues so to speak. thanks everyone for all your advise and help, i am glad for those that were honest and understanding and very helpful.0
