I'm quite happy to pass any enquiries I get onto other closer brokers to their location?

    Thats good to hear Andrew.

I just have something telling me that if we did not accept enquiries and just provided the information on how to find local face to face brokers and/or linked them to Martins guide - it would not create the need to have any information about us full stop?

As you said, its nice to be able to help after a hard day and wind down and I too get pleasure out of contributing on here - even if it is questioned sometimes lol...

Not getting at you or anyone - just feel that there needs to be a uniform approach to all this and one that works to the benefit of the consumer - after all this site is for them

    Does this include L&C ?

  • The reason my signature said that is because I didnt want to link my company website to the site. I did it to prove to MSE'rs that I wasnt a bogus adviser, as it has already been noted that traceability is a measure of security for the forum users.

I am caught between a rock and a hard place - I don't want to link my site due to people assuming its for personal gain, and to me it would feel like it was too, but I didnt want people thinking I was some unregulated unqualified know it all. Is that so wrong Andrew?

What is your purposes of linking your site you haven't said?

    Lisa,

When did I imply that you posted an FSA number for personal gain?

Chill out woman for heavens sake. It doesn't all revolve around you. I was merely asking what your current FSA number is? SUrely it's not a state secret?

Actually I don't have my homepage link for personal gain. It's there because there is currently a facility within the profile to put your homepage. So why not? Others do.

Andy posted but the deleted that you did have a signature that said to email you for regulaotry details.

All this is getting a little silly i think

I think we would all be happier and have less issues if we all worked on the basis that this forum should not be a tool for receiving business full stop even if it is not actively sought.

We all work this way and I am sure there can be no complaints.

Lets be honest the regular advisers on here have received enquires and no doubt concluded business .

I supposed I originally started posting out of partly wanting to help people and partly out of vanity ( proving how much I knew) ... in those times L&C had the market ( as far as these boards are concerned) stitched up and therefore never expected any business in return.. these days I would only be interested in dealing with a small % of the enquiriers anyway as the board & it's users has greatly changed .

  • SO let me summarise

We have to have signatures stating who we are, what we do, and that this is not advice - but the signatures could be deemed as promotion and none of us really know the answer to that

However it is fine that we link our business websites even though we are not posting for personal gain

And, we are not allowed to mention past, present or future fsa numbers even in the context of example

all rather silly! I am going for my tea.

  • I'm not accusing you specifically andrew

The reason my signature said that is because I didnt want to link my company website to the site. I did it to prove to MSE'rs that I wasnt a bogus adviser, as it has already been noted that traceability is a measure of security for the forum users.

What is your purposes of linking your site you haven't said?

Lets not just keep it to me, ask all the posters on the forum why they link their site into their profile.

I have said why it is there and it is simply because the facility is there to put a homepage in one's profile so why not?

Thats the reason it's there. Accept it or not. There is no other motive than why not put my homepage in a section of my profile that says 'homepage'?

never concluded business with anybody on here personally nor will I. I dont need the business that badly. I share some of those reasons for being on here in terms of wanting to help people and also because I am that sad that I really enjoy talking about mortgages that much.

As I say - if its coming down to who does what on here and whether they should or shouldnt be doing that then its time to say if you cant play fairly then the ball needs taking away until you can all learn to do so..
