I want to open a halifax regular fixed saver for my grandchildren, when I am filling in the application form it says -
Do you wish to apply for account with a second trustee?
What does this mean?

I think second trustee just means you can name someone else to have access to the account.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

The child is the beneficiary but when they are too young to operate the account themselves it is done on their behalf by trustees. That could be you, the parents or whoever you choose. Either 1 or 2 people in the case of Halifax.0
