Does seller have to refund postage ?

Hi

Received item it has damage not mentioned in listing.
Opened case in resolution centre (tried to do it in paypal had not realised but it seems to have all changed)
Emailed seller who said they would refund purchase price on return

Surely as it was a BIN item and faulty DSR regs apply and she has to refund postage too ?


What will ebay do about that ?

If you raise a case through eBay they will refund the whole original payment. If the item is faulty they should also refund your return cost but eBay and Paypal do not enforce this - I would imagine it's difficult for them to accept the buyer's say so on how much postage actually costs - so by going to a dispute you cancel that offer out anyway.

DSR regs only apply to business sellers but they do stipulate that there is no way a seller is allowed to charge any fee - effectively what they are doing when they retain original postage costs - on a returned item and make provisions for a buyer to get their postage costs refunded, though in practice this would only be achieved from someone reluctant to do so via the small claims court.

Also I cant see the sellers address anywhere it does not appear on the view order details page on ebay,logged into paypal it does not appear on payment page ?
any ideas please

Asked seller for her contact details to return a SNAD item
She is now ignoring my emails

Went onto ebay to request her contact details via email it said they would be emailed to me nothing happened
Requested them again still nothing

Spent 22 minutes on the phone to ebay to be told that they can't give me her address
Because they are giving her time to resolve the issue !
Ok she has written via resolution centre return them I will refund
Ebay say sorry we won't give you her address ring us again after 8th august and we can give it to you she may have resolved issue by then ???????

Well she won't refund me without me returning the gooods so what else do you think will resolve it ?

I can't believe that I am not allowed the address to return when they have copy of her reply in resolution centre asking for them back

View transaction details only shows my address and the paypal payment only shows her email
She has obviously realized I don't have her address so is now ignoring contact


And surely ebay leaving it to the customer to give you a return address opens people up to being scammed,if the seller gives a false address I can't prove they were returned to her.
I can't believe ebay have this ridiculous rule

Have you escalated the dispute? If you win the dispute and have to return the item then ebay will give you the sellers address.

You should be able to get Seller's phone no by clicking on advanced search then find contact information, entering their user ID and the transaction no.
