For "policing", read "manage". This is what managing a car park is about but it means employing staff to be visible and who are prepared to deal with those awkward little moments when you challenge someone about what it is they are doing and why. Staging commando raids into car parks, issuing mock tickets before moving onto the next location or relying on ANPR cameras is not managing a car park; its harvesting it. Management implies some active engagement not invoicing, ex post, transgressors of some arbitrary regulation solely created to provide the crop the PPC desires.

A local supermarket has employed a "car park man" for many years (Its actually "men"). There are always spaces because the car park is actively managed. There are no issues of BBS misuse/abuse - perhaps because you don't have to have a blue badge to park. If you can't produce a receipt to go with the ticket you got on entering it'll cost you £1.50 and over 3 hours will cost you £5 neatly pricing it beyond the municipal ones thus discouraging long-stayers. There are no arguments and from the supermarket's perspective it clearly pays or the positions would have been done away with years ago.

Periodically the attendants patrol and are renowned for finding people's misplaced keys, children's precious teddy bears and soft toys and handbags and wallets. Their service is both valued and respected and the supermarket (not one of the major three) probably makes a profit or at the very least can justify the cost on the basis of the customer satisfaction and loyalty it engenders.

There would seem to be some sort of market to be exploited here but of course it will not nearly be so profitable as the existing PPC model.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

Do they not have dedicated spaces for those with mobility problems?

Whilst drinking my coffee in our local Morrisons today I was sat next to the disabled spaces and watched people coming and going - it was very busy, but there was no abuse of the spaces - every car coming and going had a blue badge (which I know is irrelevant in a private car park). Then I noticed this misuse issue has been very cleverly managed by Morrisons.

They took over a Safeway and their first job was to completely redesign the car park. The disabled spaces used to be the first spaces you came across as you neared the store so were very handy for the cash points! They redesigned the store and moved the disabled spaces so they are still very near the store, but the way the car park is now laid out means non disabled drivers pass dozens of other spaces which are just as close, so in order to use a disabled space you appear to have to drive further and are inconvenienced. As a result no abuse.

It really is a brilliant piece of design and a good example of what can be achieved if you design car parks properly.

You've just made me realise the same is true of my local Morrisons, a very good point very well made.

Come to think of it, our local sainsburys is similar. BB places near the entrance but the first you get to and away from the cash points. Seems that the cause and solution is often in the hands of the supermarkets themselves.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

It still baffles me why any business would want to scam its customers.

The number of elderly blue badge holders who have been scammed by the likes of Tesco, Sainsburys and Morrisons must be staggering.

There is something bizarre happening over on CAG. A couple of people have posted on there claiming that they have lost court cases brought by UKCPS, and have had to shell out hundreds of pounds. In both cases they have been asked for more details, but nothing has been forthcoming from them. This is not a "dirty tricks" campaign by UKCPS is it?

This is the standard of English from what appears to be a troll:-

Yes i really fort i had a case but obviously not as i ending up paying all this money to them !!!!!!!
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Strange how many of these so-called PPC "wins" have involved Liverpool?

Strange that these so called wins are football players from various premier league teams ;)

Mobilise we haven't forgotten you, what say you about the blatant lies by the scammers you are in bed with, are you embarrassed as hell yet ?

Also what say you about someone getting a ticket for displaying a blue badge upside down on the dash board ? Is your advice to pay the scammers so you can get your commision ?
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
