depending on your existing layout, if it's a straight forward swap, a few hours work.
probably 150 plus VAT including materials. I'd recommend going for a local one band through recommendation, be cheaper.0 -
Thanks for that £150 seems a bit steep just for a sink i was thinking about £50-£100 :rotfl: , shame i didnt know how to fit one myself but im useless at diy lol...0

Are you one of those rougue traders? £150 quid for fitting a sink :eek:I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0 -

lol - I hope that's tongue-in-cheek
that is the max to expect - you can't say how much due to the fact we don't know what the set up is in situ, what extra materials are needed etc. This is not an ordinary basin so the existing pipework would have to be changed, made tidy and even put in chrome plated (not cheap at all).
Cheap one man band - £30 per hour plus VAT
Normal plumbing company between £40 and £50 per hour.
probably take 2 hours, materials - if chrome needed you are talking £10 per meter in pipe alone. Does that make sense?0 -
If thats how much a plumber can charge to fit a sink how much does he charge for a toilet?........ to flush all that bulls**t down the pan?I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0

do you think tradesmen rip you off?
A one man band charging £30 is not a lot - take out his tax, NI, business costs - he's probably on just over £15 an hour. Does this man work 42 hours a week as an office worker would? probably not. Is the work seasonal, definately.
The same can be said with large plumbing companies, the w=hourly rate reflects their overheads. Many people have chosen plumbing as a career due to anticipated high incomes, this is not the case. Plumbers earning £30 per hour do not own large houses because it does not equate to an income of 60,000 per annum.
An office worker earning £10 per hour will probably cost the company he/she works for £20 per hour.0 -
On building sites i work on i think most of the plumbers on there would be quiet happy to fit one sink a day and take home a £150. Thats got to be no more than a hours work for a competent plumber.I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0

I reiterate, the OP said it was a glass basin - that is not your usual basin replacement, especially where exposed pipe and fittings are concerned - henmce why I included materials in the 150 and said it would be a max. depending on who he/she went to.
To fit a normal basin, materials would be less than £10, with a glass basin, assuming it needed chrome plated pipe, materials would come to approx- £30 possibly more, the fitting would have to be near on perfect, unlike putting a few pipes behind a pedestal. Not like building a house expected to last 25 years is it (I was informed that life expectancy by a very large developer - makes you think who the rogue traders really are)0 -

So £150 is reasonable for a hours work then? after £30 materialsI came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0 -
lol did make me laugh Andybez38 , does seem steep £150 i dont care who does it as long as i get the best offer and its done to a good standard ,but skiduck did say £150 was the max price to fit the glass basin as he wasnt sure what i would need etc
But if i got a quote for £150 i dont think i would bother as already have new sink..... i just would like a more modern bathroom but its not of great importance i guess and certainly not worth me paying £150 just to have it fitted0
