Have you tried plugging the vga into the vga on the m/board
sorry, what i meant was as you said the graphics card was fried that to rule out the g/card you could unplug your vga (blue cable) and stick it into the vga connection for your motherboard and see if the same thing happens, do you have 2 of these at the back of your computer0 -

I can see one of those but also another one that looks to be a darker blue from what i can tell, or maybe its just the way i'm looking at it, its kinda hard to see unless i turn off my pc and disconnect it all. should i plug the blue connector thingy into that one that looks like the picture?.. Sorry if i dont use the corect terminology but i'm totally clueless... as you can probably tell..
Thank you.

try it, the cable will only fit on way but i bet u can see that from the cable, also theres no need to screw the pins in just make sure the blue socket is inserted correctly
but yes by the sounds of it its the g/card, doesnt harm to double check, it could havebeen the cable or the monitor0 -
I tried it and although it isnt obstructed in any way, it doesnt really fit, the screws dont even feel like they are turning in the slot and it doesnt seem to be connected at all.If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them~Dalai LamaHow people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours~Wayne DyerLet none find fault in others. leave it then, did you look at both ends of the cable to see if the pins are bent
The pins dont seem to be bent in any way. The other bit i just tried to plug the monitor in, is not the right thing i think, as i tried again and really tightened it, but the screen was still black.
Thank you for trying to help. I guess it is well and truly broken.

Well, i have changed the monitor and it seems that this is the problem, NOT my graphics card. I dont suppose there are any suggestions on a quick/temporary fix until i buy a new one please?. This pink is makin' my eyes funny!. :mad:If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them~Dalai LamaHow people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours~Wayne DyerLet none find fault in others. Have you refitted the vga lead at both ends yet?
If that doesn't work, and a different cable doesn't work, try resetting the lcd monitor to defaults using the on screen display!!
