I was searching cupboards looking for brown sauce and discovered 3 half finished bottles of whisky. OH must have put them away when I fell asleep ( Ha! passed out more like) any way I took pleasure in pouring it down the sink. I am feeling really positive but must beware of the dark cloud decending.
Have a good day everyone.

Well done on your hat-trick:T Don't want to tempt fate, but is your plan to give up completely/day-at-a-time/cut down? Just curious at symbolic (?) emptying of the whisky bottles.
I, too, have been very dopey in the mornings. It's strange because it takes a moment to remind myself I was AF and it's not a hangover:D
Enjoy today all.0 -
Thanks maman
Ideally I need to stop completly. I have had a serious problem for a very long time. I feel more positive about drink and things in general than I have for ages. This forum is really helping.
I will take it one day at a time though and see how I get on. At the moment I could even stomach AA which has been a bad experience for me in the past.
Catch up later.

I think thats the trick, one day at a time, potter about, do what you do, slowly I find the thought of it falls into the shadows the further you are from your last sip.
Hope Mrs RN is recovering well.DC.

randomname wrote: »Sorry, Sim I misunderstood re appt. The dreaded Booze is really sapping but I am feeling a bit stronger now. Take heart, I've been at it for the best part of 40 years and this forum is really helping. I even did 4 weeks at the Priory clinic. Did me no good at all. Now I feel I want it for myself, sobriety that is, as opposed to wanting it to satisfy others.
Keep logging on mate and make sure you hang on to your internet access. Hope youe distress loan negotiations are successful.

From The Priory GroupAccording to a recent outcome study, up to 62% of Priory patients maintain total abstinence one year after discharge and enjoy significantly improved quality of life.
Bearing in mind the nature of the disease I am told that the success rate is high compared with other forms of treatment.
IMHO this can be achieved with continuing help and support from AA members and meetings.Living Sober.
Some methods A.A. members have used for not drinking.

I must be 1 of the 38% then. The managers of the Priory Group are good salespeople but when I was there, the councellors were pretty indifferent and relied on the patient and AA to achieve any sort success. AA is not I'm afraid for everyone,
I have been to around 20 different groups only to find the same cliquey attendees. Very difficult to talk to and little appetite to become my sponsor. Hence my reluctance to go back.
PS The Priory clinic I attended closed a couple of months later so staff morale could have been a problem.Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
