afternoon all - I feel carp today, had one too many last night (and on a Sunday too) and it wasn't a particularly nice wine so it's given me a cracking headache. Bliddy drink.

So 40SM and Faye, I'll join you two on the 100 day challenge please. It's an awfully long time isn't it but I'm thinking that I am better off just saying 'I'm not having any', full stop, rather than trying to have just one or two on a night and it sliding to three, four, more.

I just don't feel I have enough days left to waste any more feeling crap through drink.

Sim, I hope that by now the craving has passed and you're feeling better - chin up.

Cazza, sorry everythings gone grim again for you. Hang on in there.
    Trying to keep in budget.

  • PS - Really don't want to drink, as one will lead to 10 + and I've got too much to lose.

My advocacy bloke is coming over to mine at 3pm too, to go through ESA Appeal stuff.

Think I'm craving a drink 'cos I'm just feeling overwhelmed by this appeal tribunal coming up, and having to prepare. The tribunal want my evidence sent in by Friday, and this is not going to be easy.

    Sim x

When I feel jittery (be it craving for a drink or cigarette or anxious about an interview etc) I try and ring someone and tell them how I feel. I speak on the phone, or face-to-face to another human being. I tell them that I am very scared/anxious. That often takes the power out of the feeling.
A feeling cannot make me do anything - it's the action that can do the damage.

I tried for years to moderate, but overall my attempts were unsuccessful. I couldn't enjoy just having one drink, and then not having any more.
I find absenteeism easier - then I know my limits (i.e. zero!)

I think 100 days is a long time, but I can only not drink for one day at a time. I just need get to bed tonight without a drink. That's as much as I can do today

Exactly take each day as it comes - I've come to realise that's the way forward. Each day has its own challenges.

I'm sick of the dialogue in my head, when I had an valid excuse for not drinking at all, the dialogue was gone (mostly). I have come to prefer it that way.

Therefore, even without that excuse for the moment, I'd rather no more dialogue.

Pure and simple - I don't want to drink - Its exhausting battling everyday, fed up with that.

The gloves are off - one day at a time, they will hopefully stay off.

    ETA 40sm - good attitude!

Sim - you have prepared so much for this meeting don't throw it away now, you will just make it worse. Bank that cheque and don't get cash out. NPower will wait couple of more days and then you don't have the cash to spend.

I have been thinking here about the 100 day challenge. Since I spotted a can of cider in the fridge at my house sitting place I have been wanting one. Perhaps I allow myself to have one cider on Saturday when I am going to a party (then I am not breaking my rules) and won't take part on the challenge. I am less like to go OT when I am out and about. Off to get something nice for lunch...

ETA: smoked salmon on granary bread - nom nom... (note self - must batch cook soups for lunches...)

  • Hello - it's been a long time, and I'm sorry I disappeared. :o I have lurked a bit, but I would really like to join in again, and especially join the 100 day challenge. I need it. Well done to you all for sticking with it all - I am in awe.

Here I am ready to hold your hand :p
Brilliant :j The countdown begins on Thursday ;)

    Brill - can't wait to start :j

Hi gang how's it all going :D

I'm laid up with a massive cold/bug and have to register at uni tomorrow so that will be a hard old day or 2. Hoping it bugs off soon

I'm mainly AF - I did have a glass of martini on Fri night for some reason. Mainly cos I chucked a measure into the risotto and then thought, shall I have a glass because I do like this. Still thats the only one so far this month

On 12 AFD so far :D The 100 day challenge will help me focus on remaining AF as I have enjoyed it massively so far and most habits are broken
