Do you REALLY know your bra size?

EllaKeat,
How unprofessional and ignorant that woman was!
Perhaps you could telephone a specialist fitter in advance before visiting to reassure yourself that you will be fine going to a professional?"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
Oh, I know! Logically, I accept it was more her problem than mine, but I just would not do it again. I am a private person anyway and built up the courage to go in the first place, I just couldn't go through it again:o
Having whinged about it though, I am reasonably happy with what I am wearing:)0 -
If you do ever want to get fitted I'd call a professional shop, speak to a fitter and, once they reassure you its okay, I'd take their name then ask for them in store.
When you arrive simply state "I was speaking to X on the phone and I'd like to have them fit me".
Don't let one foolish person put you off!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
i am loving this thread !!!
I wear a 36B , i usally buy my bras from La senza... i am in the small size... my back measures around 35 in and i am a size 10 or 12 depending....
Even the 36b is a bit big on me, but i can not wear 34 cos because of my back... measuring online says i should be a 38A-B.. i bought a 38A in MAtalan 1 month ago and although it fits my back, my boobs are too small for it.
Another questions is.. should i sleep with a bra on ? if you help with a size that i should try, where do i buy them from ? any stores online that you can recomend?

blue monkey can you please help me ?
I am sorry morocha I missed you - just dipping in and out today.
Can I ask why you cannot wear a 34 please, you said because of your back but I was not sure why this was so hope you did not mind me asking. PM me if you prefer.
If you want a bra for sleeping in, any non wired bra will do.
If a 36 is too big on you then you should not be wearing a 38 at all, if you cannot wear the 36 then you will have to stick with the 36. How is the cup on you, do you have any overspill?0 -
I have no idea if I wear the correct size, some bras are confortable, others are not, but to be honest, I will never go for a fitting again, I felt so ashamed and distraught after the last one. I went about three years ago now, having had a mastectomy, followed by reconstruction after treatment. I was badly scarred, and my boobs are not equal, and are a bit lumpy:( But, as soon as I thought I looked reasonable, and was well healed, I went for a fitting and was turned away by the lady who said it would be better if I consulted a specialist fitter. Leaving the changing room she shouted across to the others behind the counter ' This lady has had a mastectomy, we can't do anything with that, can we?' Cue pitying looks from customers browsing and me slinking out, face burning. Never, never again.
On the 'up' side, would encourage everyone else to go for fittings, there is a school of thought that badly fitting bras could be a contributory factor to breast cancer.
Wish I had met someone like blue monkey a few years ago:)

I cannot put enough angry faces to show how that bra fitter made me feel let alone you. Totally unprofessional and I would certainly have written to the shop complaining about your treatment by her.
If you want some more help then please feel free to contact me. We really are not all like this.
Please do not let this experience put you off though, have you found somewhere that does bras that you like now?0 -

I can not wear a 34 because since i put on weight, it is too small, it won't fasten up that is the reason why i wear a 36 B but this bra i get the feeling the cups are a bit big.. but a 36A it is too small... does that make any sense? my bras are usually from La Senza... i know, i know....Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0 -

If you find the 34 too tight and the 36B too big then you need to change the style or brand of bra you wear. La Senza is not made for your body shape so you need to go elsewhere I am afraid.
I sell about 100 in my size but I can wear very few of them, they just don't suit my body shape.
What style was you wearing? And is the band around the middle of your back and not rising up? Do you have any other bras shops around you that you could try?0
