Talk Talk

Options
I'm currently with Talk Talk for my home phone. I pay:

£11.49 line rental
£5.49 Anytime call package
Free caller display

I could also have free voicemail but I prefer to use the answerphone that's built into our homephone.

Total per month = £16.98

There's usually a couple of chargeable calls on each month, so the total bill is around £18 a month.

We have free broadband with a free wireless router from another company.

An Indian Talk Talk representative rang yesterday and I struggled to understand, but she said I was entitled to a special offer with free broadband. The new deal would be:

£11.49 line rental
£6.99 a month Essentials pack which includes free broadband
£4.00 Anytime call boost
free caller display
free voicemail

Total per month = £22.48 plus chargeable calls.

She kept going on about how it was such a great deal and how I was getting free broadband and kept encouraging me to sign up.

I pointed out it wasn't free broadband as I'd be paying £5.50 a month more for the new package, but she was adamant I was wrong and it really was free broadband and a much better deal.

I asked her if she could explain to me how £22.48 was cheaper than £16.98 but she hung up on me!

Am I missing something here? :D
Here I go again on my own....

    HI Becales,

In short the BB is free, the plan is just more expensive. It just looks as if the agent was unsure on how best to advise this without compromising what they had already said.

Historically TT have had both cheaper and more expensive phone and BB packages than we currently offer. However at present we have two packages which have inclusive BB available Essentials at 6.99 and Plus at 14.99 (http://broadband.talktalk.co.uk/products/broadband/)

These offer varying different inclusive aspects when compared to older plans. If these are suitable for you then feel free tos ign up for one of these plans. If you current setup is more suited to your needs then by all means stick with this.

    Regards

A Talk Talk representative called me last week too. She asked if I dialled international calls, I told her 'no'. She asked if I called mobile numbers, I told her 'no'. She asked if I called 0845/0870 numbers and I told her 'yes'. She then asked about my broadband usage.

I answered every question politely and truthfully but clearly I did not give the answers she wanted because she simply hung up on me!

If you go onto the Talk Talk website, log in and then select option CHANGE MY DETAILS you can give a contact number. My contact number is now a personal rate number (070xx) from Flextel that diverts all the time to voicemail. The number is free, the voicemail is free and divert to voicemail is free. It will not cost you a penny to have or use the service, but it will cost Talk Talk around 50p/minute to call you!

Given the strong likelihood that Talk Talk may ignore my contact number and still call me on my landline, I have provided Talk Talk with my own security question....

"DO YOU WISH TO RECEIVE MARKETING CALLS FROM TALK TALK?"

Anytime Talk Talk call me, I will demand they ask me the security question!

I will answer with the answer already given to them - which is "NO"

you all might want to bear in mind that talk talk have just announced a price rise due for october for an extra 50p per month on the line rental, So it will go up to £12.04. they also have other price rises in the pipeline. Google it an see if you can make a decision based on the new fees.

Exactly what I had noticed. In fact, last year Talk Talk offered me a knew package but the price went up before they even transferred me to the new package!

Seeing as you're online TalkTalkCompanyRepresentative can you sort out Paul's problem with the constant marketing calls he's getting or are you just doing sales today? ;)

    Hi Paul

If you wish to remove your details from Marketing Contact we can do so via the TalkTalk Members Forum (http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums).

We need to confirm security for such a request which we cannot do via the MSE site.

Trouble is TalkTalk may not actually provide any broadband service, and because BB is billed as free, they will still charge you 6.99. What a load of cack!
