You need to write up an event diary, Soo., immediately while things are fresh in your mind, get confirmation on as much as you can.
All this for a judge/arbitrator/solicitor to look at.
I can see a new boiler for you at BG's expense and compensation for the hassle.0 -
Still write letter of complaint to Chairman and Managing Director, as this will not only make you feel a lot better, but bring the tactics used too try and influence you in to accepting a product that was not what you wanted.
BG installed my last central heating system and i will never use them again.0 -
You are not going to believe this but...
Just got home from work, and there is a tiny little bit of water on kitchen floor, I mopped itup (only a teaspoon worth or so) and happened to glance up at ceiling. There is water 'hovering' along what I assume are joist lines, to explain it better..I have a brand new ceiling that is smooth and white, there are puddles of water congregating in three places which ocassionally drip one drip of water.
Have gone upstairs to airing cupboard which is directly above, and there is water all over th efloor coming from a pipe that they worked on yesterday.
Have phoned BG who told me it isn't their problem even though their workmen replaced some of these pipes yesterday...I basically told them not to go there and just get me someone here within the hour to sort it out.
Have been referred to a senior supervisor who is going to call me back.

EDIT, there is a team on there way here and who are expected to arrive within 45 minutes. I have been assured that any damage will be fully compensated....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This thread should serve as a warning to all who would get involved with BG doing " work " at their property. What an unbelievable bunch.
Best of luck.0 -

If it ain't one thing its another. Even if they do offer a free boiler....would you trust them to put it in properly?Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

BG doesnt mean they will be any better than an independent. You certainly do NOT get your money's worth with BG.
Soolin, any updates? Hope things are now sorted. I'd tell BG to stick their contract once all the mess is sorted out, and give full and frank reasons. I'd get in touch with a local installer who you either know or can get recommendations for, and go with them.

It hasn't quite ended yet. BG took a deposit from our credit card for the boiler, so we had to insist they paid that back which took a few phone calls.
No One seems to know when anyone will come and inspect the damage to the airing cupboard (which is still drying out after the leak) and my kitchen ceiling which has water stains on it, also from the leak. All my spare bedding and towels and things that usually 'live' in the airing cupboard is sitting on my bedroom floor as I won't repack the cupboard while it smells so damp.
The old boiler is working OK and fitters that came to inspect it also said that they can't personally think of any boiler that would fit my kitchen without having my kitchen redesigned around it. Althought my kitchen is large and has a seperate laundry room the two outside walls are mainly chock a block with windows, so there is nowhere to actually put a new boiler. The old boiler isn't a condenser and any new one must be plus our house is considered 'large' so we need one with extra output.
Although I've had problems with BG I think if I had used independent fitters I would have had a lot more problems as I can't see that they would have told me until it was too late that a boiler was too large for the kitchen, nor do I think I would have got my deposit money back so quickly.
I have a horrible feeling that a new boiler will have to wait until I can afford to have the kitchen completely refitted, which isn't going to be for a while as the current kitchen is only 5 years old.
I never thought that changing a boiler would be so problematic.
I did appreciate the assistance I got on here though, thank you all,.
