in middle of having gas boiler fitted but too big!

Thank you all. I've just phoned trading standards.
They say that I can't insist that BG replace the old boiler if it contravenes regulations on installing second hand equiment. All trading standards can suggest is that I get them to leave and try and find a private company to get me a boiler and instal it, and then reclaim my money from BG for breach of contract.
So. I'm still stuck with a hole in the back wall where they have taken bricks out to put the new flue in and all my water and gas turned off. I would think the chances of getting an independent company in today or even this week with a boiler are pretty remote, so I think I'm stuck.

You got 'em on the ropes Soo. As mentioned, get witnesses, take photoes, keep safe all correspondence, start recording phone calls.Get names and rank, times of visit, lots of pictures of yourself looking distressed and the boiler space and work in progress. Ask for the old boiler to be retained by you or returned to you, as evidence.
Mention the winter, turn the screw, you are winning.0 -
A hole in the wall is a temporay measure compaired to a life time of a boiler that doesn't suit you.
Well Done You.:T

Why only the local press. BG [STRIKE]'service engineers'[/STRIKE] salesmen need to be exposed nationally! It's very obvious that they should not have removed the original boiler if they could not provide a suitable replacement.

Rikki,
Write asap to the Chairman & Managing Director of BG.
That will get things moving.0 -
Update: It is getting a bit nasty now. My neighbour said that it surely can't count as reinstalling something if they have only moved it a few yards. I asked the senior bod what they deemed 'removed' and they agreed that it was probably pedantic to say that it was off the premises if the old boiler was still sitting in the garden inside my boundary wall. However they said they hav ebroken the flue plus one other part and my old boiler is obelete so cannot go back.
I phoned Ideal and they say that parts are readily available and i have the part numbers.
Ideal also say that they do a full range of HE floor and wall boilers and could possiblt find a smaller alternative that is approved by BG.
All BG men now standing in front garden talking.
I have photographed everything.

Whatever the outcome of this I'd like to say thank you for all the suggestions. Being here on my own made me feel vulnerable, knowing you lot were out there reading this is making it much easier to stand my ground.
