Yes, but a local reporter will get there quicker and catch BG "at it" , and will probably offer it to a "national" as well. Great to be able to interview ( or try to ) the criminals on the spot. A local reporter makes for a very handy witness.0 -
Good point, I see what you mean.

Write asap to the Chairman & Managing Director of BG.
That will get things moving.

One engineer has just told me that if needs be they can have the parts for the old boiler couriered to me for Friday...but they still do not have Head office permission to put the old one back.
Why don't you ask them for the number and offer to call them.:D£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I have phoned Ideal and they say they can courier within 24 hours direct to me, but it probably wouldn't be despatched now until Thursday to arrive Friday anyway. I am loath to pay myself for something that BG should pay for, as they broke the old boiler, it was working perfectly before they took it out.
The BG men don't appear to be talking to me anymore, but it does rather look like old boiler is being replaced.

espresso wrote:I think that you have confirmed that they are indeed cowboys! Best of luck sorting this mess out.
The OP has been wronged; BG have fouled up; of that there is no doubt.
However my definition of a cowboy is someone who demanded money up front and just walked away from the problem.
BG are facing up to the fact they have fouled up, and are trying to sort out a solution and appear to be acting reasonably. They can't undo the fact that they fouled up.
Clearly they will have to compensate the OP in a way that she finds acceptable. Until that is proven to be unsatisfactory I suggest the invective on this thread is a little over the top.0 -

But that is what they initially wanted to do and they made up rules about not being able to put it back as it was, before they messed up!Cardew wrote:BG are facing up to the fact they have fouled up, and are trying to sort out a solution and appear to be acting reasonably. There are far too many stories like this regarding their underhand tactics and I personally would not let them near my property. I have seen what they have done to others, replacing parts that do not need replacing and suggesting unnecessary work be carried out etc. etc. etc.
The problem is because they are a large well known organisation, people think that they can trust them but that sadly is just not the case!

OK, old boiler has been replaced and BG say they will come back on Friday and fit missing/broken parts. They apologised for any inconvenience and will arrange for senior bods to have a meeting with us about a new boiler at a later date.
It has taken all day but I feel BG have acted better than a smaller outfit may have done. They knew they had mis sold me something and once they realised that I knew that as well they did give in.
Thank you all for the advice.
