Apps for Symbian will be in the Ovi Store. They'll probably be an icon for that.

I would take it back but it will be your word against his and there's no cooling off period if it's bought in store. Go tomorrow morning when they're busy, and kick up a fuss in front of their customers.

If you're buying in store, do some research before you go and come up with a shortlist of phones, then make your mind up once you've seen them in the flesh. If they offer you something else, and you haven't already dismissed it, go away and research it. These days you have to live with a phone for 18 months or two years, so it always pays to do a bit of digging on t'internet.
I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?

    Thanks for the replies.

DD did do alot of searching on the internet before we went to look at phones in all available phone shops. This guy must have really wanted a sale and saw us coming and just said yes its an androind, it even had the android add just abouve that phone as well as him saying it was one GRR, the bar-steward.

Ovi is for Nokia but therre is a way of using it with Sony Ericsson Symbian phones as well. A colleague at work does it. Try googling it. There is some sort of SE app store as well.
It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

You're right about Nokia - sorry, my brain isn't working properly. It's been a long week at work :)

Thanks for all the replies about the phone my DD got for her birthday:A.

We took the phone back to carphone warehouse and explained we were told the phone was an android phone, the bloke who saw to us today looked at the phoned and asked another salesman "android phone or not", he said not, so we managed to get another phone which IS an android :D:D:D.

I really was expecting a fight on my hands and as one poster said it's our word against his....but all came right in the end :T YAY.

    Thanks

I'm glad you got it sorted. How can CPW sales staff not know? They're supposed to be the experts lol.

Good advice, but you don't have to live with a phone for two years if you don't sign up for a contract. Just sell this year's phone in 11 months time and get a new one sim-free at minimal additional cost...
