Plusnet Value, is it worth it?

Plusnet are currently doing an offer of the first 3 months free and then £6.49 per month for up to 10GB, in my area I am meant to get up to 5MB...which means nothing to me! But I was wondering whether anyone else is a customer and are pleased with this service, before I sign up. Many Thanks :)

  • I have just recently signed up for this offer (went live with them Monday) as we are also limited to who we can use.

The switch took about 5 working days from when I signed up online with them. We have had no problems so far. Our speed with them is slightly quicker than we had with Tiscali.

Don't forget to have a look on Topbcashback, £28 cb I believe.

10GB is the amount you can upload/download per month. The MB number will be your broadband speed, assuming you can actually achieve the figure quoted.

The cheap Plusnet package is heavily traffic shaped. If your internet habits are just general browsing, streaming some TV and gaming, you should be OK.

10GB isn't much these days if you stream a lot of programs and you have family on Xbox,PS3, etc.

All P2P traffic is heavily managed on that package, but if you don't do it, then it won't effect you.

Also make sure you are on a market 3 exchange otherwise your monthly amount will go up.

  • Thanks for the replies, I am useless with technology!
I can get the £6.49 a month tariff
Question is now I have 2 laptops at home, does that mean that I can use wi-fi with this broadband or do I have to have them connected with a cable to a phone line?

Also do I pay £6.49 a month by like direct debit or do you pay upfront?

hehehe Thanks for your help :)
  • A wireless router is included in the contract if you sign up for 12 months. The payments will be by DD.

You connect your ADSL modem/router/wifi box to the phone line, then you can connect PCs laptops whatever to the router by cable or wifi. You can get one of these 'free' (read the T&Cs though) from Plusnet if you don't have one already.

With Plusnet, it used to be the first payment was credit or debit card then after that, direct debit. Haven't heard that things have changed.

  • Hi,

and you can download from midnight to 8am free, it doesn't affect your 10GB allowance, handy for using BBCi.
