£89 all in for the boiler :) a nuisance but if you had told me this morning it would cost that I would have taken it. The plumber has ordered a part and will come round on saturday to sort it. I have updated my cashbook with the amount so it reminds me that i haven't got that money. He said I can pay by cheque too so it won't come out for a few days yet anyway.

Whilst clearing out the airing cupboard I found a cot duvet that dd used to have. It's absolutely gorgeous, all pink and white patchwork and applique work. The only reason i've kept it is because it is just so pretty. But....it's now in the ebay bag and will be listed when i can next be bothered, probably this weekend. I'm not so fussed about the free listing any more, it doesn't save that much money.

Off to watch the British Bake-Off, just hope it doesn't make me feel hungry.....

Had a lovely pub lunch today with my cupcake friend and I have sorted out dd's birthday party.

Not much else occurring. I am aching a lot less from Tuesday's pole class. Might go for a run tomorrow if it's dry.

Have got some money bags so I'm going to count up the copper jar. Will update with amount later.

£6 to go in the hedgehog.

    £6.60 on One Poll

    £1.65 PAD to barclaycard.

As it is shopping day tomorrow I need to think about a meal plan for next week. It would seem that this week we have been mostly eating fish  DD is getting sick of it. I will try to vary it next week.

Off to cut my fringe now, it desperately needs doing.

Managed to bag up £3 coppers. There was about £4 something of silver but not enough to make up a full bag so I've put some of it back in the jar. I put a £1 of 20pences into the hedgehog seeing as I won't even miss them.

    Meal plan

Friday - just cooking for me so something dd won't like :D
Saturday - chicken stirfry and noodles
Sunday - pie, roast potatoes, veg
    Monday - salmon pasta
    Tuesday - at mums
Wednesday - scampi, chips & sweetcorn
    Thursday - chicken biryani

Just waiting up for the washing to finish. I stupidly put another load on (the third tonight ) and I can't bear to leave it sitting in the machine till morning. I think it's on it's last spin now.

Just need to mop the floors then I'm off to bed.

Weigh day today and I lost another 2lb:j

I haven't even really been taking it that seriously - just goes to show how much carp I was eating over Xmas :o

    £1.73 PAD to barclaycard :)

Going to brave the frost in a bit and go out for a run. This benefits me twofold - I will be getting the exercise and I won't be spending money in the pub or eating the lovely thai curry (so threefold then :D)

Got so cold on my run. I don't think I warmed up until I was on the final strait. Still, I feel all virtuous now :D

I was looking at my mortgage statement last night (like you do) and there was a bit on the bottom saying that I could ask them for a cheaper rate (subject to fees etc). I didn't think I could do this as it was a 5 yr fixed rate (runs out Sept this year) but I think i will give them a ring tomorrow and see what they can offer me, if anything. Freephone number too :T

£28.34 on food shopping. V pleased because I managed to get loads of fruit & veg, cleaning stuff and 2 packs of chicken. just need to get a bag of spinach, a pie (which i forgot) and some plain yogurt for the biryani on thursday. It does mean that I only have £17 something for the rest of the month but not worried because things usually tend to work themselves out :D

Another 2 squidly bob in the hedgehog.

6 watchers on the ebay stuff now :)

Hustle on now :j then going to watch Stella afterwards.

  • Your grocery spends are great...mine are just embarrassing:o:o
I really didn't think I'd spend much yesterday....my list didn't have much on it and I didn't buy much that wasn't on the list...but still spent £59:( I guess £9 was on lightbulbs and loo roll...and I did get a chicken, 2 packs of mince, pack of chicken and a fair few bits that will last for a few weeks. My freezer is completely full so I shall now make it last;)

All good things with the weight loss, going running (v. impressed with this;)), coins.... fingers crossed with the mortgage rate:D

 just typed a long reply and it disappeared

Mortgage rate is a no go...for now. It will cost me about £3k in fees to change now. If I leave it till 1 July I won't get charged. It is rather galling because their base rate tracker is just 1.45% - at the moment I am on 5.99%. To be fair I took it out in October 2007 just before the pooey stuff hit the fan in relation to the sub-prime debacle in the US and no one knew which way the rates were going to go. I still remember the late 80's when my parents' mortgage rate hit 15% so couldn't risk that happening to me.

It has made me more determined to make a better decision this time and start overpaying.

Popped to Sainsbugs this morning. I'd seen a toaster in there last week reduced from £14.99 to £9.96. It's black, modern and curvy and ours at the moment is old and chars one side of bread whilst not even touching the other - so for that price I thought I'd treat us. Glad I did because it went through at £4.98 :T

Total spends in S's was £11.72 on toaster, spinach, yogurt, pie, soda crystals and newspaper.

Have changed beds and just having a quick coffee and a mooch on here before I tackle the ironing mountain :(.

    DD is making lipbalm :)

Plumber should be here any time now.

Bargain toaster:beer: I love it when something comes up even cheaper, that would make my day (yes, I need to get out more;)). Send your dd2 across the country to me when she's done and she can make me some lipbalm....I love them, have pots and tubes of them everywhere, in all my bags and always have one in my pocket:p

DD has just said she wants to go into town for 'a look around'. This could easily translate into 'a bit of a spend up'. I have no cash in my purse so we will need to find a free parking spot. All I have is an M & S voucher......
