Polesalot's Climb to Debt Freedom

I'm reading a really great book at the moment. It's called 'Singled Out' and it's tag line is 'How 2 million women coped without men after the First World war'. It really is an interesting read - many women lost their true loves, others never even had the chance
. It wasn't simply a case of not meeting the right man, there just weren't enough men to go around.
I don't usually read books like this but it really is quite interesting, detailing the womens' struggle to carve out careers for themselves instead, which was also hard because they weren't expected to do that - they were expected to become wives then mothers. many of them just felt that they were on the scrap heap. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
So glad DD is happy at school, makes your life so much easier too
Well done on the ebaying. Onepoll was working fine for me today, earned 55p. I think I saw a review of that book in a Sunday paper, sounds sad, them having to live like we do when it definitely wasn't the norm at the time.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -

It was cold last night. I spent the evening on the sofa wrapped in my snuggie with a hot water bottle. Saves on the central heating anywayIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
OnePoll has been very generous today - £16.50 so far. I think i still prefer Valued Opinions for the quick payout. I'm almost at £10 again already
It's really raining here and has been all day - very miserableIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

Not a NSD yesterday. Needed to get some washing-up liquid and handsoap in Mr M's and ended up buying some bubble bath as well. It was just so rotten out and we got caught in a complete deluge just going from the car to the shop that nice luxurious bubble bath seemed a good idea....
Going to got for a run at lunchtime if the weather holds out. I've got a dress that i want to wear to the hen night on Friday and and I've not worn it for 18 months. It might not even fit! :eek:It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
I am feeling very tired today. The family across the road have a little kitten and they seem to think it's perfectly acceptable to leave it out all night. The thing is it's only 12 weeks old and it cries constantly and it just sounds so pitiful. I could hear it when i went to bed at 10.30, I woke up at 1.30 and was looking at it out the window for about 10 minutes but then I couldn't get back to sleep. I was still awake at 3.30am
. I almost let it into our house if only so i could get some sleep. Its cries were heartbreaking. It was still out when DD and I left for school at 8.30. It dashed over to us and it followed us to our car. I think the poor thing is starved of affection and it must have been so cold, tired and hungry.
I took it back to the owners and they were still in their PJs - clearly they didn't have to get up for work! When i said 'Did you know your cat was crying all night to come in and kept me awake till gone 3.30 (and did it Saturday night too)? Don't you think it's a bit young to be out all night?', she just said in a whiney voice 'I didn't know.....'. I don't think she's very bright. Surely if you have a 12 week old kitten you must know if it's in or out??
The dress fits, phew :T
I am currently the highest bidder on a rather nice leather biker-style jacket on eBay. Ends 6pm tomorrow. Wish me luck
99p PAD to Barclaycard.
Off to Ann S*mmers tonight to buy some bits for tomorrow's hen night. It's just a meal really so not sure how far we can take it in the restaurantIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
£18.45 on OnePoll
PAD of £76.20 (monthly DD and PAD of £1.20). Balance is below £1750 now :T
Pilates class today. I enjoy it but I'm going to give it up. With people at work dropping out the cost goes up so today it's going to cost me £5. I can go for a run for free and at least then I get hot and sweaty and can feel I've done something.
EPO update - I really think this is improving my skin. Especially the skin on my legs. Not sure about my mood swings - might have to just acceot that i am a moody cow
Kitten update - it's not been left out at night since I had a word. I do keep seeing it crouched under peoples cars thoughWLM says he's going to ring up the RSPCA if it happens again....

Don't suppose you and DD fancy re-homing the kitten? Shouldn't be too hard to convince it that it might rather live with you. Well done for having a word with the owners.

I haven't seen or heard the kitten for a few days now. Don't know if that's worse or not....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
