I have been doing a bit of school uniform research. It looks like M & S are going to be best value. I do like them though and I've just remembered I've got a £15 voucher in my purse so that should soften the financial blow somewhat. I did want to treat myself (or even do the Dine in for two for £10 thingy) but needs must. I suppose it is better that they go towards the school uniform.

Now just need to check that her school shoes still fit....

Have you got lots of uniform to buy? M+S is a good bet though - the stuff lasts I find. Not that my 2 would wear M+S stuff any more though:o Luckily I don't need to get much this year - blazers and jumpers are fine, so are skirts. Just buying some trousers each while they have them in the shops. they have to wear dark grey and like New Look style but you can only get a choice at this time of year so I'm getting them now. That and shoes and I'm done:D

Your meal plan is looking good - what is Balinese chicken, I'm intigued;)
I really need to sort out a new signature!

I too am intrigued by the Balinese chicken reference.
Google brings up many different concoctions...

As for school uniform, DS2 (14) hits yr 10 next month, and they decide to change uniform aaaaaargh !

WLM's stepdad cooked it when we were on holiday. It's absolutely gorgeous - the Ken Hom one. I will put the proper recipe on here when I get home but it's basically chicken in coconut milk with onions, chilli, soy sauce. It's just so tasty. We had it with basmati rice and broccolli.

Oh what a nightmare...the schools really don't consider that some people are going to struggle to replace things. It's such a major expense.

56p PAD to Barclaycard (every little helps ;))

    £12.30 on OnePoll

I have got a dentist appointment this evening. I hope it doesn't cost me too much :o

It is really crumby weather here today. Did not know what to put on this morning but it highlights the fact that my wardrobe only caters for really hot days or really cold days. I desperately need a new pair of boots. Might see if I have time to pop into Primarni this evening.....

Rescued a couple of hedgehogs last night that were in works grounds. I know that if you see them in the day they have either been abandoned by their mother or are sick. I phoned our resident animal lover and they are now with a foster mother. Sweet.

No run today because of leaving drinks at lunchtime in the pub.

    .

Blast - I forgot the recipe :o Basically (from memory) it's

    1tbsp groundnut oil
3 chicken breasts (sliced or cubed)
    400ml Coconut milk
2 tbsp flour (seasoned with salt and pepper)
    225g Onions (cut into wedges)
2/3 red or green chilli (chopped up finely)
1-2 inch piece fresh ginger (finely chopped)
    2 tbsp dark soy sauce
    2 tbsp orange juice
    2 tbsp sugar

Slice the chicken breast and dust with the seasoned flour. Heat the oil in a large pan and brown the chicken until no more pink is showing. Remove to a separate plate.

In the same pan, adding more oil if necessary, cook the onions for about five minutes until they are just starting to colour. Add the chilli, ginger, soy sauce, orange juice and sugar and cook for a further minute. Add the coconut milk then add the chicken back in. Bring to boil the simmer for about 20 minutes. The sauce should thicken.

We had this with basmati rice and broccoli. Yum!

I'm feeling very in control of things today. It is payday and my maintenance has gone in. I am finally back in the black, just need to be very careful but i think it can be done. There is stacks of food in the freezer so just need things to go with it which I think shouldn't be a problem.

It also means that I can go school uniform shopping without a heavy heart :)

    £12.90 on Onepoll

    £13.95 on OnePoll :)

£1.12 from rounding down to Barclaycard.:)

Yesterday was a NSD so i am pleased with that.:)

The elusive 6 points needed for another M&S voucher from MySurvey seem to be out of reach. They email me the surveys then when I go into the site, the surveys aren't there . I have complained about this before but it is always blamed on 'technical issues' and they are 'looking into it'

I am wearing a winter dress today with boots and tights. For heaven's sake - it's August!!!

Debating on whether or not to go for a run....it has been peeing down all morning but looks like it might have stopped now. I really could do with going, only been once this week - my target is 3 times, which I will manage if I can go tomorrow too.
