I treat myself to an eyebrow wax every 6 weeks or so. I usually think i'm keeping on top of the stray hairs until the sun shines properly on my mirror and I actully look like a yetti.
.
I've just had my fringe trimmed and now I can see them all lurking:eek:
I've been looking on those sites where you send them your old mobiles and it looks like I can get some fairly decent money with the phones that I have. Can you see what I'm doing here? I'm delaying the eBay experience.......:rotfl:
Having said that I've been having a mental wander through my cupboards while I've been sitting here at work and I have got 4 pairs of really nice curtains lurking in the bottom of my wardrobe. One pair are pink gingham that I had made specially for DDs room before she was born. They don't fit the windows here but would probably fit most windows in 2up/2down terraces. They are beautiful and are fully lined. Cost me £135  I remember thinking when I paid for them - she better turn out to be a girl after all this!
The others are cream living room curtains, all fully lined and are the type that goes down to the floor. Some are M & S, the others are all specially made. Would I be better putting these up for auction or BIN - how does it work if I do both?
Apart from the money I could really use the space at the bottom of the wardrobe
I've been looking into matched betting after reading through benbenandme's entire diary and it all looks rather scary. I think I need to introduce these MSE concepts into my life more slowly.
So far I have/will:-
Started the envelope system (except it's in online pots)
Send old mobiles off for cash
Start an eBay box with a view to selling
I think I can make a good start with all this whilst I am off. I might look into Music Magpie too because I'm sure I've got some carppy old CDs that I don't listen to (or even like because they were bought by exes)
Could probably put some books onto Play.com too. I never read books more than once and don't buy them anymore just borrow from the library. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
I tend to put books on amazon, but haven't done any for ages. With music magpie, they are a fairly good way of getting rid of things but is always worth comparing what you may get for them on amazon first.
I have got rid of a few old mobiles and found most of the sites are pretty good-Martin has a full guide on here as well as cashback options tooBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Thanks Bob, I didn't think of Amazon.
I looked at the mobile guide earlier and found it very helpful.

Yep sucked into the vortex of MSE and fb- well that's usually me. Saves money and perhaps learn something new:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Well I am learning loads since finding MSE. And I read something on a thread then go off to google it, before I know it midnight has arrived and I have a list of reading books as long as my arm
Poles I am not sure where you live but if your curtains are really good quality you could try to see if there is a Curtain Exchange shop near you. Not exactly sure how it works but I think that it might be similar to a dress agency. They may sell them on your behalf and take a fee. Its worth asking for a quote and then seeing how much things go for on Ebay. I put my dining room table on ebay 3 times as an auction, then had a brain wave and put it on as BIN and it sold straight away for the BIN price which was more than the reserve price I had been putting it on for. Strange. Its free listing weekend so it might be worth trying it as BIN because you have nothing to lose if they dont sell. Dont forget to weigh them though and make sure that you price the postage right so you dont lose out. Good luck with it.
Have a great weekend, hope the meal that you have been promised happens soon. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Oh I never thought of curtain exchange....I too am learning so much everyday. I will look into that.
DD was at a friends today. Just before I left work her mum text me and said they were having so much fun playing that she would give her her tea then drop her off back here. What a godsend! It meant I could whizz round Aldis and be home with the shopping put away and first load of washing on before she was dropped off.:)
Shopping came to £33.40 and I got almost everything on the list. I also got far more stuff than usually have to get. There was mince and chicken, I had to get toothpaste and showergel (and also some of their ginger bath soak which is divine, perfect for my tired aching muscles) so loads of stuff that I wouldn't normally buy and STILL under my £40 budget that I have set which starts in earnest next week. So if all goes to plan this time next week I will be nearly a fiver up already
Not sure when I will get that dinner - he is at a festival in the Brecon Beacons this weekend.
My Muse tickets have arrived though so I definitely have something to sell now
Going to peg out the washing while it's still light(ish).
Must sort out getting some envelopes sent to me so I can return my old mobiles.
Going to have a lovely ginger bath in a minute while my bung-in-the-oven curry is cooking. I love my Friday nightsIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Not being negative but curtains are heavy so be careful with postage charges if you do put them on ebay. Last thing you want is for most of your profit to go on postage.
The food shop was good value, I'll need to do something similar myself if I'm to stay within the envelope budget. Also thinking of getting a slow cooker, I'd never heard of such a thing before MSE:D
Why are you selling the muse tickets? Could you get a babysitter and invite the new man?
How about daily clicking? I still haven't taken the time to learn about this but I want to, people seem to be making money from it.
Hope you're enjoying your Friday night:)Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -
Yes I thought the postage would be quite hefty. Need to look into it - looks like lots of people are selling curtains though.
I have got a slow cooker but don't make nearly as much use of it as I should. I do like getting the meal underway in the morning then coming in later in the afeternoon with the house smelling gorgeous. Especially in winter...mmmmm. Might do the ragu sauce for tomorrow night's lasagne in the SC.
It is my intention to set my alarm for 7am and actually get up shortly after, get showered etc. Just recently I've been slobbing around in bed til 10 o'clock at the weekend and although it's lovely it does mean that half the day is wasted. And I do hate waste
I but my main food shop at Aldi (ours is lovely, quite new and very quiet so saves time too) then any bits that I can't get there I get in one of the other supermarkets. It's aved me so much money doing things this way.
I need to pop into town tomorrow so while I am there I will pop into Mr T's and get a clubcard form so I can get points.
(Possible) new man is coming with me to Muse alreadyI just need to sell those other tickets.
Daily clicks is the other thing I need to look into. I just don't have much discipline when it comes to things like this. I suppose you get into the habit.
I've had my scrummy but completely unhealthy curry. Now I'm going to have a yummy chocolate desert and a sneaky glass of ginger wine (must have some health benefits in it) whilst watching The Good Life - they don't make sitcoms like they used to :rotfl:
I love fat FridayIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0
