have you factored in the monthly costs of gas, leccie, water, and council tax?????
you don't seem to have mentioned them, and the one debt that will basically NEVER be written off is CT...

I spent £10 a week on groceries and I don't get any help with tax credits or council tax, so count yourself lucky.
I eat a lot of pasta, but the majority of my diet is fruit and cereal so it can be done.0 -

Excuse me! I would do ANY job if it meant more money. I live in a small town with poor bus routes (3 buses a day) and no transport of my own. The town I live in has no jobs available at the moment.
The buses to and from Gloucester/Tewkesbury run every half an hour mon-fri, and every hour on saturday.
Glos Rugby Club are advertising for 90 bar staff at the moment. The bus stop is pretty much outside the club.Bulletproof0 -

In fact, by previous posting, the OP has started a fair few threads on this topic and seeing what help they can get, to be met by the same answer each time
About 9 months ago, they were already aware that there would be a shortfall in their rent versus the LHA they could receive and warned that a part-time job would make living in self-contained accommodation a complete struggle.
Looks like they simply can't accept that their main options are to increase their employment income or decrease their expenses and are still fixated on a fictional third option of the public purse picking up the shortfall.

Sorry if that isn't much help, as I say, i'm not an expert, and also we don't really know why OP feels that shared housing is not appropriate (it may be a simple lifestyle choice, or there may be health or other reasons).
There are few positive responses from the numerous threads we get from young part-time workers in self-contained accommodation who find it hard to make ends meet. They are usually characterised by complete resistence to suggestions on how to improve their budget.
I cannot yet recall someone saying 'you're right, i should give up this tenancy because I can't afford it and really cut down on my expenses', all are adamanent that it is their right and entitlement to have their own place and mainly they are angry that there is low or no public assistance to subsidise it.
It's almost comedic to read these threads from people who cannot afford their independent lifestyle who rail against the lack of benefits to enable them to afford it.0 -

I agree that Council Tax can be cheaper, but if you are on your own, I was under the impression there was some sort of supplement and that Council Tax could sometimes be covered under some types of housing benefit?
People on low incomes could be entitled to a reduction in CT (council tax benefit). Those living on their own in are entitled to a 25% single persons discount on it.louisemichelle wrote: »I'm not totally dismissing the idea of the OP getting a flat share. I'm just suggesting it's not as clear cut as it appears.
It is fairly clear cut - it is virtually impossible someone under the age of 25 on a part time minimum wage to afford to run a self-contained property. 16 x £5.80 is £92.80 per week!0 -

Quite frankly, it always was......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
