Because I work 16 hours or more (even though it is only 16), I am not entitled to Income Support

Am I missing something? How would working 15 hours a week entitle you to IS?

    I read this on Directgov:

    • are between age 16 and the age they can get Pension Credit
    • have a low income
    • work less than 16 hours a week
    • aren't in full-time study (but there are some exceptions)
    • don't get Jobseeker's Allowance or Employment and Support Allowance
    • don't have savings above £16,000
    • live in Great Britain

That is besides the point anyway, the point is, I'll have £30 a month to spend on food and groceries.

    Is that not enough?

but there is a second section that you must also qualify for (not one or other it is BOTH)
    a lone parent
    on parental or paternity leave
    a carer
a refugee learning English who arrived less than a year ago

so you would not qualify for IS

    You'd get job seekers instead.

Excuse me! I would do ANY job if it meant more money. I live in a small town with poor bus routes (3 buses a day) and no transport of my own. The town I live in has no jobs available at the moment.

    Where's that then?
I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Wow. I asked for advice, not to be lectured.

Why the hell shouldn't I rent a flat if that is what I want/have to do??

Have I even mentioned my age? No. Yes, I am under 25. That doesn't mean I'm a 16 year old scrounger.
