Giving Way at Roundabouts?
I was just wondering if it's just me who's started to notice this happening or if its always been the case!
On the way to my Mum's today, I came up to a large roundabout which is always busy, the car in front of me wasn't indicating, so I assumed they were going straight across (they did eventually). Even though there was no traffic to give way to, this car in front of mine entered the roundabout, then actually stopped, and let 5 cars out who should have been giving way to the lane of traffic that I was in?!! I would never think to let people go on a roundabout, I always give way to the cars on the right (obviously!), but wouldn't dream of stopping on the roundabout to let cars go?!
I've noticed this a few times recently, but today was the strangest! Does anybody else do this?
I hope that makes sense?!!

Some people are, to be blunt, sh*t drivers. The answer really is that simple.0

Roundabout near my house can be interesting- nobody sits in the correct lane! Had an argument with a taxi driver once who tried and failed to cut in in front of me for an exit- he went round again, followed me into the carpark, and spouted off a bit....
Pointed out the road markings, he got a bit quiet....
Stopping on a roundabout- haven't seen that yet though!0 -
I think maybe they were just trying to be considerate?! Was quite a stupid thing to do though, caused a fair bit of congestion behind me and some horn honking!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

The quality of peoples driving these days is total rubbish.
I had to give up driving a motorbike a few years back as people just dont pay any attention.
Then again for bad drivers, try ParisThe DWP = Legally kicking the Disabled when they are down.0 -

Maybe they were French? the French give way to traffic on islands and side road junctions.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Like people who are driving down the road in a line of traffic and suddenly stop to let people out of junctions.

Could it have been a foreigner driving?? I know in certain countries where they have roundabouts, Greece springs to mind, you have the right of way joining the roundabout, and so you give way when you are on it to cars coming onto it, if that makes sense0

There's a roundabout on my way home from work and NOBODY sticks to the road markings. It's so frustrating! People thinking they can just cut infront of you. And then when they have to slow down because you've stayed in the correct lane, they hurl abuse at you!
Well I'm sticking to the markings matey, so deal with it!!! :-)0 -
Don't know how many others will agree with this....
I was bought up that you don't use something without having at least a basic idea of how to work it..... Took cameras, radios, cd players, cars everything apart when I was a kid, my dad encouraged it.
Driving- my dad made me learn how to change brakes at 8, strip out an engine at 12, and listen to the car engine, sound and vibration. Driving lessons usually found a cup of water on the dash- I would do a course my dad set and wasn't allowed to spill any- the point of the exercise being to teach you good use of brakes, accelerator etc in normal driving. Also hand positions for changing gear, gripping steering wheel etc- eg, don't put thumb around the steering wheel, as you risk breaking it in a spin, and this will make controlling the car harder.
Most of what he taught me was to have the ability to at the very least- hopefully patch the car up until it can go to a garage..
My husband's daughter will be learning to drive in a few years, and I've let her know that Lesson 1 will be 'Change the car tyre.' Followed by Lesson 2- 'This is where air/water/coolant goes.' All I want is to believe she can control a car competantly, and not drive until it overheats due to low oil....
Bit rambly, sorry, but I was taught by my dad, who rallies Land Rovers for a living! Some very fun lessons I had!
Sorry if a bit ranting, almost got sideswiped by an idiotic girl putting her lipstick on this morning.0
