You sound like a very lovely grandma going to so much effort :A please post a piccie when you've finished i'd love to see the end result0

Thank you for that. BUT there is a fine line between making lots of effort and interfering/undermining etc. So I am trying to be very careful. However, need to start knitting winter cardis and jackets soon !0

I second the request for piccies when your finished! Good Luck

I ran faded pushchair covers through the washing machine with a dark dye, thinking that it was worth a shot as they were ruined anyway.
They came up like new. Likewise for sun-bleached car seat covers.
Honestly, I'd try that first!
Ooh i found this thread looking to see if anyone else had used dylon on a pushchair. Just bought a cheap maclaren 'good cond' from ebay but the covers are shabbier than mentioned. The chasis broke on my mothercare one so i was looking to see if the maclaren one and hood could be dyed?If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
depends on which maclaren. Some of the materials are very wipe clean, so obviously have some sort of coating.
If all else fails, put a cosy toes on it. With a nice thick fleecy one, & a baby in it, you won't see any of it bar the hood.0 -

Thanks for reply. It's a quest and i can't find any replacement covers for it! It's the version in navy with the reflective stripes on. I have been using a cosytoes with it but the hood is still super faded and the back of the seat itself! I have ran some dylon through in the machine (black wash and dye) and it's just finished and looks like it has taken really well but the stripes are still really worn out. It is a vast improvement! I just need to wash with powder now and dry them and check thoroughly! If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
fantastic it's come up so well. If you can get the hood off at all, you can dye that too then. I've washed the hood of my xt in the machine before. Put it into a cheap pillowcase (one that you don't mind dyeing too!) & secure it shut with a strong safety pin.0

I've done the hood aswell now and come up as new
Here are some pictures (i had 2 seat covers exactly the same so just did the one as a test, some pics show both together for better idea of results.
(facebook link removed - new photobucket link on way)
