For the past four years, four of us have gone to Benidorm in October and loved it. Train to Alicante and spend the day there. Bus to Althea, lovely'village'. Well, it was a village when I first went there in 1968! Train to Denia, really lovely.

Pick a nice hotel on the Pontinente side of town and eat in the Old town. Some nice places to eat there.

Some parts of Benidorm are tacky but with care, you can avoid them.

Thank you everyone for your comments

Lastnight me and the boyf booked a holiday to Zante (will be our 3rd time, we do love it there) so Benidorm is not going to be happening for us.... this year!!

well benidorm is either love it or hate it place,

i've just looked at the facebook photos, from the link above,

the last one made me laught, seems the lady in question fitted in real well, cheap primark ill fitting 3/4 pants, scruffy trainers, and a lumber mans shirt.

Instead of benidorm, Zante is an option, no way, Zante is full of p***ed up 18/30's

may have been a few years ago, but acording to my neighbour who came back 4 weeks ago, Zante hasn't changed.

The good thing about Benidorm, is it has 2 sides, yes it has the yellow brick road, but the old town and the tapas bars are lovely.

The last photo was taken (and not of me) in an ironic way. But try, Howie's pants, and a ladies top-shop shirt. At 32 degrees, it's a bit difficult to see what else she could be wearing - and we have no wish to be wearing things with REEBOK or whatever emblazoned on. Heck, maybe we did 'blend in' by being dressed quite causal, but in mannerisms, taste, intelligence? Certainly not.

You've got to be a fool to think the WHOLE of Zante Island is like that........... they are talking about one area, one small town on the whole island, just like most big towns/cities/tourist Islands in the world, they all have a "dodgy" part - if you don't like that part.... don't go to it.... simples :D

I love Zante and you cannot fault it until you have tried it atleast....!

    Rant over :T

We went to Benidorm last week for a few days, we were rather dubious after reading similar reports to those above:eek:
However we really enjoyed our break there, we sat on the beach, no noise or problems. We went to some of the bars in the evening to watch the comedy and tribute acts and we enjoyed them too, we walked through the British area on the way back without any trouble. Tacky looking places we avoided so it was fine.

We stayed in a the Sandos Monaco Hotel, really classy - have a look on Trip Advisor, which was within walking distance of everything without being in the hub of it all.

You can have a nice time in Benidorm, but wherever you go it makes sense to avoid the troublesome areas, we wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Pity a lot of people didn't think the same of benidorm, it is a massive resort, and has lots of wonderful things to offer people, and yes it has it's 18-30's area, but you can visit Benidorm, and not see this, it's not all

Benidorm is held to be a planning mistake even by the Spanish, which is why the lower rise resorts strated to appear. There may be nice(er) areas of the town, but they are overshadowed by the concrete monstrosities which abound on every corner. The same cannot be said of Zante.
