click that and confirm it and then goto the little green computer icon as before and search for networks and your network will now show up

One last question - about my laptop this time - I seem to have got two minute thunder flies trapped under the glass of my screen (well, they are either thunderflies or dead pixels, except one is wandering about!). Should I do anything about this?

I assume all working as it was before? There was nothing wrong with it just that the software that comes with wireless card to ownership back to manage the wireless connections. You could have connected to the router this way but I figured it best that it goes back to the way you know how rather than a different way than you are used to.

Bearing in mind your original issue. Would suggest you update your antivirus and give it a scan with malwarebytes too.

DH owes me a beer !

God knows how they got there. Would be pretty difficult to be honest. Could be dead pixels if so download this and run it to check
