My advice is don't be too hard on yourself....if you get too evangelical about debtbusting and don't give yourself ANY treats it gets difficult to maintain.
Try to keep a spending diary ....and allow yourself a couple of treats.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Hi
I saw your post over on the main DFW board. I don't come on MSE very often now - I followed a certain someone elsewhere.
I agree with spoon and some of the other posters - post comments on other people's diaries/threads and you'll soon have a group of 'friends' - it's a two way thing, you know!
You are very young to have got yourself in so much debt but at least you've realised at a young age what a nightmare debt can be. I've no room to talk. I'm a lot older and have about 3 times your debt
I know you want to be rid of your debt :money:but you do need to treat yourself sometimes or you'll just make yourself ill. I noticed from your soa that there's nothing listed for entertainment. A 20 year old lad - no nights out drinking??!!
If you allow yourself £200 a month for treats (maybe even give your Mum something towards food etc), you'll still be able to pay around £750 a month towards your loan and you should be able to pay it off in less than 2 years.
Also don't forget that cars often need money spending on them other than car tax, insurance and petrol.
Good luck on becoming debt-free :T0 -

you're correct about the car.
my evening job is a bouncer, so im out a couple of times a week but get free drinks and entry to the bars.... :money:
something i used to do which made me so popular and happy was bodybuilding, i used to eat all the right foods and train most days, it used to cost a little but it was what my life was about and made me happier than anything.
due to paying my debt off ive stopped that and lost 3 stone (all the way down to 14 stone)
nothing would make me happier than to start doing that again. even just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.0 -

Do you really have to put this on hold? Your situation is not so dire that you can't get back to this. Modify the budget for it. It's going to take a while to pay the debt back, you can't put your entire life on hold until then.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -

live with parents!!!! no board!!!!
You see, posting on the main board works, people find you easier if they know who you are.
Try keeping a spending diary for a few weeks, write down everything in detail, even 55p for a Mars bar, xxp for a paper etc. You'll soon see things you didn't realise you were spending money on.
Can I ask why you don't pay board to your parents? Pay something, even if your parents don't want it, they could even save it for you.
I know you want to be rid as soon as possible, but allow something for yourself, if you are just working to pay off debt, you will find it really hard, especially if your friends are going out. You don't need to blow it, just allow something.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
