Breakdown Cover

I think you are always best going with the most reputable, because if something goes wrong then it usually gets sorted more efficiently rather than lots of little companies involved.
Not always the case i know, but better safe than sorry!0 -
I was quoted £69 to join the AA. Thats for the standard breakdown cover and the relay cover added. I'm still thinking about joining but because AA is the biggest I thought it was more value for money.0

I got my cover from RAC through Blackcircles.com, they've got an offer that if you sign up through them you get a free £30 tyre discount and its 30% off the list price, so pretty good.
You should ask your local garage and see if they are a member of any breakdown groups/companies, can be useful as they are local, thats how i heard about the voucher deal!0 -
CallReg will attend a breakdown with a tow truck and will take you home or to a garage of your choice as long as you have the necessary cover. Reg is underwritten by Europ Assistance so its a huge organisation with hundreds of local contractors that work with them. You can see all of the key facts for each policy on their website really easily without having to give them any information. I got the full European cover for 70 quid which was half the price of what I was quoted by the main breakdown boys and the cover is just as comprehensive. Thanks for replies but still none the wiser. Am not necessarily after the cheapest, how does one define a "reasonable ammount of time" before recovery kicks in. Agree things like tyres can be done at a local tyre shop, it's just that should the car need any mechanical/electrical work to be done to get it mobile. I would like to be recovered back home so that work can be done by my mechanic at his garage. Basically if roadside mech can't get car mobile then I want option to be recovered home and not to any garage in the area.
Any ideas.
Thanks
Hope that helps!0
