£20 for a Broken Tooth ? Advice please.

My wife's tooth broke whilst eating Aldi Cereal. She found lots of small hard bit's and sent them off to Aldi. She then had emergency dental treatment costing (£50). Aldi sent a goodwill £10 voucher and the bit's were sent for testing. The manufacturer has stated in writing they were at fault for the overcooking of maze (the hard bits). Aldi have sent a cheque to cover the dental costs and a further £10 voucher which we have not used, Aldi refuse to compensate my wife further.
So that's £20 for the pain and suffering my wife had to endure plus telephone calls and postage costs over a 4 month period. She now has a broken tooth that will probably require further tratment in the future.
My question is where do we go from here. We would have been happy with a free weekly shop (£100) which an Area Manager told us at one point we would be sent. This we were later told by his boss was the £10 voucher we recieved ! We feel insulted by Aldi more than anything else and wish to take this further. We have a copy of the manufacturers report.
Sorry if i have gone on a bit !

My wife informs me Aldi have only sent us £15...even worse.0

It wasn't deliberate... and they have paid for the dental treatment and given you a £20 voucher...
It sounds quite reasonable to me!!
A broken tooth fixed by a good dentist won't require any further treatment. An NHS dentist would have done it for cheaper - you can be seen as an emergency patient!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Some folks on the OS board could do a weekly shop at Aldi for £10.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
I broke a tooth the other week whilst eating something and it never crossed my mind to try and lay blame.
Guess I must be a mug.0 -
Good god what a Muppet. Do people have to blame everyone for every single accident. No wonder the economy's so !!!!ed up.0

Just another case of compensation culture I'm afraid, instead of just expecting their expenses paid people now want hundreds of pounds in compensation for any incidents like this.
Aldi have paid for the dental work that was required following the incident and accepted that the product was not up to scratch, send you a goodwill gesture but you also want hundreds of pounds of vouchers on top.
Why exactly do you feel you require/are entitled to this?

We are not trying to lay blame, the blame has been admitted.
So they did'nt mean to overcook the maze and it only took 4 months and false promises to be offered £15.
Yes.... perhaps i should send a letter of thanks to Aldi who i have shopped with for over 3 years and offer to pay there postage and telephone costs !0 -
i embarrasingly broke one of my front teeth whilst at work one day, my fault as i pulled something that was propping a ladder up, which in turn fell on me (quite comically actually lol)
i know its not the same as your situation, but my employers paid for my emergency dental treatment, my dentist said to me that i may require futher treatment and put that in writing to my employers and they have agreed that if any further work needs to be done on that tooth then they will foot the cost.
if the dentist has said you may require further work then i would put that to Aldi, i would seriously give up on the whole compensation thing.
oh just want to add - at no point in time did i ever consider suing my employers, it was an accident, granted they always happen to me but still.
(maybe i should sue my husband, i broke my toe by stubbing it against his ladders- or maybe still i should sue the manufacturer of the ladders, ladders seem to have something against me!!!)Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
3,272 posts and you are calling me a 'Muppet', how immature. You 'Cyberbob' do not know me and have never met me so why abuse me ? I am not going to be drawn into a conversation with you after this reply as i can imagine you sat in your bedsit.... alone (3,272 posts).
We have never as a family persued compensation in any way in over 40yrs, how some people put others into little boxes amazes me. Who mentioned hundreds of pounds ? not me.
To all those on this site...and i'm sure there are a few who offer good advice keep it up. To the few that have replied to me as Cyberbob and his mates have with no advise and just a dig whilst hiding behind a keypad i have nothing to say to you.0 -
Fig did you ever stop to consider if the tooth was faulty?0
