Feedback on Shell FuelSave

It is featured more than any other fuel company.
Obviously, other fuel companies aren't releasing products that try to improve your economy! (with the exception of Ultimate which is still more focused on performance and costs more). Anyway this isn't a discussion about me, its about the fuel so I'll stop there.
I filled up today with Shell, not expecting MPG miracles, only a big enough saving for a pack of mints each time I fill up would be niceSaving for a :www: deposit.

Probably save more fuel by not having that heavy pack of mints inside your car or inside you. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Cynical?
Not stopping at red lights WILL save fuel.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Do Shell sell " snake oil " ?;)0

If you read the leaflet, to get the best out of the new fuel, you must also change your oil to their new type, which is thinner!.........in a word DONT.0

Has anyone used tesco momentum 99? According to their website a car similar to mine will do 6 MPG more than on the 95 ron.
In one tank that adds up to 55 more miles and just over a gallon saving which far outweighs the additional cost.
Is this a marketing thing, or will it actually be worth it?0 -
I used Tesco's Momentum 99 last week and to be honest have not seen any fuel savings.
It would appear that that the Momentum is just replacing their standard 99 RON. Whether it is any different or just a re-branding exercise from Tesco is unclear.0 -

Momentum is their 99RON fuel, they're just giving it a name like BP, Shell and Texaco gave their higher RON fuels. It's purely a marketing thing.
I don't believe anyone will gain 6 mpg out of it though.0 -
I've started using tescos 99 ron stuff, purely because its only just over a mile away whereas the nearest shell garage is about 8 so any savings I'd make are lost in that journey.
I can't say it feels any different to other higher octane fuels I've used in the past though.
The claims about an extra 6mpg may be possible if you remapped the car to take advantage of it(lean off the mixture, use less fuel for cooling the cylinders) but unlikely for most people.0 -
Think ill stick to the cheap as chips jungle juice then! I fill up for £40 (1.25 fiesta) and usually get between 320-360 miles from a tank0
