I love Radio four - and Five Live when it gets a bit too much. I'm addicted to football, sport and news (I'm an ex-journo) so the mix of both is heaven for me.

    Hi everyone!
Sounds nasty out there, we've had no snow but thick freezing fog all day and it hasn't lifted. I've had to take my car into the garage so that's bound to cost me a bomb, but I've also had my hair done so I'm pleased about that!

Pad for the day is £15.15 please Paul.

Right - I need the collective intelligence of the Padders on two separate issues. Any ideas/information gratefully received!

    1. You may recall that I paid off my MBNA credit card with a balance transfer - I did this on the 11th November. I paid it off entirely and checked on their website and there was no minimum repayment showing. I was expecting some residual interest for the beginning of November, but today they have taken a min payment direct debit of £43.43! Thinking this was a bit odd, I checked the online banking and I am showing as £43.43 in credit? I need to ring them tomorrow about it, but does anyone have any idea what might have happened? I could understand it if I only just paid it off but it's been nearly a month now?

    2. When the pressure in a boiler keeps dropping right down, is that normal for the really cold weather or do I have a problem (leak or something?)?
I've had to top it up today for the second time in about 2 weeks.
Is it normal or should i contact my landlord?

    Thank you!!!

    xx

Having "guesstimated" the amount required for direct debits incorrectly this month, I have managed to find £25 spare to PAD. I've added this to my normal amount and have a PAD of £26 please Paul :D
  • Yesterday's PADs added up to a much healthier
    £2,047.33

    Good going .
  • A rather large PAD of £462.79 for a loan repayment and a minimum CC payment (yes they are my two largest outgoings apart from my mortgage).
Unfortunately that puts me into overdraft territory, but there's not much I can do about that right now unless I break into the tax money. The weather has eased for the moment in the southeast and I am earning again so I suppose I will just have to carry a bit of interest on that one for a week or two.

    Morning Silaqui

I had a similar situation when I transferred a balance away from my Cap It Alone CC. They took the minimum payment as shown on the statement (despite zero balance) but by the end of that day had reversed the payment and put the money back in my bank. Didn't even have to call them!

That said, may be worth a quick call as I have no experience of MBNA, though DH has account with them and they strike me as a bit user-unfriendly. Might also be worth cancelling the DD for the card with the bank if you no longer have a balance with them.

Good luck with the boiler - got no idea on that one :D
I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...
