Also, I have messed up.... I opened a scottish bond account as it had £50 cashback, and on the spiel it said something about savings after 12 months, I've paid £75 already (3 x £25) and I have just found out I have to keep it open for at least 2 years to get any (if not all) of my money back. Should I just close the account and write off the 75 quid so I have the £25 towards my debt instead, or keep it open and close it as soon as I can without making a loss?
Any thoughts anyone? I don't know if it's best to just write off the £75 or keep going for the minimum 2 years..... I just can't decide!!!!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

I guess so... I can't bear to write off £75 but wasn't sure if it was the best thing. I'm seriously hoping to be out of debt by the time I can withdraw any money so I could think of it as a 'celebrating my debt-free splurge' fund!Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Maybe you should tell them you want to switch and see what they say!
FWIW I used to work in a call centre and whenever someone asked to speak to a manager, we used to get the person sitting beside us to take the call - a majority of the time, customers only had to hear a different voice saying the same thing to make them believe it
We used to do that too...Also if you get sales calls from most companies, never go for the first price they offer. They can always 'speak to the manager' and then go lower, add extra stuff, etc (it's called a 'drop close') to get you to say yes, so if it's something you actually want then hold out until they are about to put the phone down on you. The policy at our place was to do 3 drops before giving up, so try it out! I must say, the training sessions we had were a real eye opener!
oh no I have made a mistake have paid to much to a cc and now I am in credit. Will need to get OH to phone tonight as it his.
at least it is paid off, 1 less to worry about.
