Sorry to hear of your situation. However the banks do not close accounts lightly. Are you sure you have not exceeded your bank overdraft or had returned dd payments. Also you state you have a poor credit rating. How was this achieved. I know with my bank they get a score from Experien each month.0

If you need a new bank, the co-op is good for people with poor credit. The Cashminder account is available for poor credit and even bankrupts (this is how I know).. it's a good account and they are a decent bank.
Just incase you hadn't thought about a new account x9/70lbs to lose

Hi, No we havent gone over our overdraft since two years ago and have had no returned dds either. We have a poor credit rating from a few years ago, set up our own business that didnt do too well and we got into trouble paying bills etc. Nothing major, defaulted on some payments etc, but apart from one, which i am paying monthly now, there is nothing outstanding. And certainly (apart from income reducing) nothing has changed recently as far as that side of things is concerned. I have nothing on credit, no cards etc, and no loans.0

I know banks have the right to off-set by taking your money to pay debts with them including over-drafts but as far as I know they are NOT allowed to take benefits are they? I would be going into the bank as soon as the money is paid in and demanding to cash it all out. You can inform them that you will be in financial poverty if they don't hand it over. They will have to get in line for money to pay the over-draft off too.

How about quit ranting and get a real job instead of being a cough security guard.
You sound bitter. Can't take the job with dealing with proposed 'criminals of the state' everyday?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
He' off again - PC Kent - the situation we are in now is not the one we were in when we had our first 4 children, and when we decided to have our last. We have had a healthy bank balance, and have lived to our means, not anything else, and have never asked anyone for anything. No one knows when ill health will occur and we thought we were financially stable enough to cope - who has thousands put away for this type of situation????? You are obviously a very small minded man and thrive on putting people down - good for you i hope its made you feel better. I am not the scrounger you are trying to portray me to be, i am at university studying Law, and like I said before we are a hard working family, you are coming across as a complete loser.0

Banks are not allowed to take benefits. It is there for people to live on. That is the law. (and theory)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Aside from the grossly unfair bashing against those on benefits (in his "experience", which I'm guessing is Police Camera Action or something like that), I've never seen anyone cite the rule that states a bank cannot call in its overdraft and hold onto benefits once they're in the account.0
