Where to sell on an unwanted Wedding Ring?

The best thing you can do is keep it.
As others have said, you will lose a lot on resale - probably as much ast 60-75% unless it was a real bargain in the first place. Jewellers will typically value the gold and diamonds at 50% of their scrap or loose value.
Factor that loss onto the price of buying a second cheaper ring and there is no point in selling it.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Your insurance valuation is based on the cost to replace it like for like, not what its actually worth.
I would nip into a few independant jewellers to find out what its worth, bearing in mind they will knock a tiny bit off as they need to make money when they sell it on.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
I would say that the amount of money you get back for it would be around the price you might end up paying for a lesser quality/niceness of ring. I’m on the same board of keep it, I wouldn’t pay anywhere near £1000 for a second hand ring (even if not worn) sorry!Bump due 22nd September0

I'm also in the keep it camp! I think it was a lovely gesture and the ring will be around a lot longer than flowers and wine :T0

Can't you loose it :whistle:0

I'd say that you're pretty much stuck with it now. You'll really struggle to recoup your money, especially when we're talking thousands rather than hundreds and the other posters are right, by the time you've sold it at a loss and bought a cheaper ring, it'll still work out expensive so you may as well keep the lovely ring.
Have a look round the board for ideas to keep costs down in other areas to make up for the money you spent. I think you've lovely for doing that BTW, my OH would never take a hint that I liked a ring and buy it for me!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I think if you weren't having to buy another one then it wouldn't matter what you got for it but say you got £1500 for it (unlikely) then had to buy another for £200 - it's going to have cost £900 for a cheaper ring which is not worth £900.
I was allowed to pick my engagement ring when we first discussed marriage, I picked one at nearly £2000 and he didn't mention getting engaged again for 9 months :rotfl:0 -
I can't believe she is even contemplating getting rid of it! My wedding ring was £90 but i'd kill anyone that ever tried to take it from me!0

I had mine resized and the shop swapped it for another one!!! I was really upset it wasn't the one OH chose0

I am getting the impression that you guys are felling she is some kind of warhorse!
As stated it was both of us deciding that the ring was a bit over the top etc.
She would be more than happy to keep it but I guess it is a bit of guilt.
Getting married over in Cyprus is so much cheaper than this country, hence why we are getting hitched abroad.
So please less threads on how ungrateful she is etc, she is not, I was only asking for help in disposing and regaining some of the cash and not highlighting the fact she is a cow etc!
