I may well be joining you but can I ask a question that you will all know having done this so recently. I am still at the point of gathering as much information as I can as to whether bankruptcy is my best option - pretty sure it is and am speaking to the national debtline over the weekend. I see that people seem to be given a day and time to go to the court - how do you get allocated this? Do you fill in the forms and they then tell you when to go? Just worried about getting time off work as it really hard and I need as much notice as possible.

Can someone talk me through the very first stages and order of what I need to do?

Thank you very much - these boards have kept me sane for the last fortnight when I was in a very dark place. Now I am being very practical and calm about what I need to do.

You would have to contact your local court to see what system of appointments they use, some you have to book, others have a walk in system. Once you know what system you are dealing with you will then have to complete your forms, IMHO it is best to do them on line if you can, and you have access to a printer.

Also it is best to ask any questions on the main forum, that way you will get a lot more help
