My son rented a car with Car Trawler, unfortunately, because he's now inDallas with a friend and NO car. They took his money and a young driver's premium, over 300 dollars for 5 days, but at the airport he couldn't have a car because he's 20 and not 21. Car Trawler are trying to blame National and National are blaming Car Trawler. This does not help my son, who would not have gone to Dallas without a car. Now he has no choice. So Mr Paul McGovern I would like your direct dial phone number please and help to get my son's money back in his bank before he gets back to the UK on 3rd July. I've already e-mailed your customer support but have not had a reply. If I get a good experience I will say so, but if I get a bad experience I will also say so. WATCH THIS SPACE ! !0

I'll throw in my hat.
Just got off the helpdesk from Cartrawler/Argus because they told me it was a full to empty policy when I was certain it was full to full. They've booked through Europcar and I've had confirmation from three people from Europcar that it is, in fact, full to full.
Bunch of robbing swines. Customer Service remarkably unhelpful and actually told me at one point that full to empty was their agreement with Europcar when Europcar themselves offer full to full.0 -
Cartrawler have promised to investigate into why a manual car was booked upon confirmation when I had selected automatic at the booking stage. I have emailed twice and have still not heard anything back. They have promised to refund the difference for the car i had to book as that was all that was left the day before I flew out.
Will update when i get a response.
Tylium, I completely agree that some of the information they give the customer is not correct.
Tandra, what a nightmare! Hope your son was able to sort out some transport.Quidco: 999.76 cash back so far!0 -
Am on the phone to cartrawler, as they never did get back to me... just explained everything to cartrawler again. They made extensive notes on the account it seems, which confirmed everything.
They have promised to call back after talking to a manager...Quidco: 999.76 cash back so far!0 -
Apparently the customer care, the dept who look into things when bookings go wrong, have a backlog of work. So although it has already been 2 months since my complaint and investigation was logged, they have confirmed that the query is with the right dept and they will email when they have looked into the matter. The customer care agent estimated another 20days before I hear anything.Quidco: 999.76 cash back so far!0

Do not trust!!
I hired a car through them, as I went to collect late the rental company classed me as a 'no show' before they had actually closed office, and refunded the full amount of the rental back to Cartrawler. Despite this, Cartrawler claimed that they could not provide me with a new booking, or provide a refund! What is more damning is that the responsible service agent - Lynsey Egan - is apparently responsible for their training!!
Best solution - rent direct.0 -
used Argus many times for Spain and USA and had no problems. Cartrawler cant help sorry0

Hello all,
Seems like there are lots of people on here who'd had problems with Car Trawler's Ts&Cs and wondering if anyone had any success re. refunds.
I had to book a car to collect from Manchester Airport and was in a rush booking so went on the Airport website which directed me to Car Trawler. Being a while since I've hired a car, I was unaware you now need both parts of your driving license to collect a car so wasn't able to even pick the car up and thus the rental did not begin. Even though Enterprise have stated twice they have no intention of invoicing for a car which wasn't collected, Car Trawler have said they're keeping the money, due to 'policy' with no other explanation as to why they think they should be able to.
Would appreciate any thoughts/ideas/suggestions/success stories.

Wish I'd read the reviews before booking with Argus - also known as Cartrawler. Got a voucher for Easirent at Edinburgh airport, stupidly I didn't check the details were correct. Turns out that although I'm convinced I booked for 9pm, as that's when the flight got in (and they had my flight number etc so could have checked that), the voucher said 1pm.
So on arrival we're told we've been classed as no-show and the booking was cancelled. No cars left. Spent 10 minutes on hold to a cartrawler number in Ireland which wasn't answered (then ran out of credit on my mobile!). Ended up having to book a car through Thrifty instead, which cost a lot more but at least we had a car.
On return home, I contacted Argus who said I had to sumbit a claim through the cartrawler website, which then didn't work. So had to do it all again over the phone. Cartrawler then inform me that there's no way they're refunding my money. Bearing in mind we'd booked for two days and they had our flight details, I'm pretty hacked off. Don't know if I could reclaim through the credit card - was less than £100...
In conclusion, don't use them. Book direct instead.0
