Evning Cheri, definately a cross roads here. Would the counselling if you have it put the flat into perspective? Money is holding you back and you have an empty flat?

Pippa, you could be right there. I am, if I am honest, starting to feel negatively about my whole move. I love living here the countryside is lovely, to be within 15 minutes drive of several beaches is a dream come true. However the living arrangements are not what I would have chosen. Yes the flat is a frustration and I am sure that I need to vent some of these frustrations somehow. My friend said exactly the same as you so I guess it has been obvious to other people rather than me that these things are a drain on me. At least I am now aware that I am at the point of making some decisions. This alone will help me to start dealing with things and with added help from wherever I may decide to take it I know that I can get these things sorted. Thanks
Off to check out the diaries whilst I have 10 minutes quiet.

Lets hope you get some idea of direction soon, I suspect you will from your trip, so maybe that flat will be in the market sooner than you think to set up your dream in the Alps ;)

You sound like you've handled it really well, cheri, thats great. And, you know, in reality you've never been a dfw - you've always been a mfw! But all of this about where to live, and how to live, we want it worked through and on the way, don't we - well, I do, anyway. Yes, I'll have my dream house *now*, thank you very much.

    Thanks Pippa.

Oh Cheery that makes perfect sense. I consider holidays and travel one and the same thing and I really dont have to go far either. I am as happy travelling to the next town to investigate as I am travelling to another continent. I just love to see new places. I harbour this idea of buying a camper van, taking a year off work and travelling around Britain as there are so many places that I would like to see. Next year will be about going to places in Britain mainly. Places that I can take Moo with me but also having some girlie weekends with my friends who live a while away.
I have been very lucky to have been to some really lovely places in South America and the Carribean but I have been to some equally beautiful places in Britain and I really want to see more of it. Pippi, I have every intention of dragging OH back to Orkney to show me his favourite places and to meet some of his friends (who do keep trying to keep in touch with him but he has this fear of contacting them as he has put Orkney in a box with a lid on it) Apart from which I LOVE Scotland and I want to see more of it.

I want to take a year out and go travelling in the van - children told me off for even thinkign about it!!

Orkney - well - now that you've a house sitting base at a time to suit - maybe that might spurn on a trip up here.......... - scotland is very pretty - when it surrounds you - maybe we don't appreciate it so much. When I lived in England we alwayslived in such remote places I didn't realise about the bigger towns etc - until I was older.

Ladies you are all so lovely I feel so humbled to have "met" you. I have a confession to make................. not too long I ago I used to worry about people who made friendships on the internet! I have been proven wrong in all of my preconceived ideas about people who lurk on forums! Another life lesson not to judge people.

KC - you are right. If I was to follow the teachings of the Secret (which I am struggling to read) then I should be thinking of it as MFW and not DFW. Although I like the DFW diaries!

Pippi - you are right why do other people stomp all over our dreams? Shame that the children are against your idea of travelling. They could learn so much from it. My OH also thinks that I am a bit mad as he says that it would be difficult to get a job etc when I got back. I was surprised because he loves to travel and much prefers road/train/cycle/hiking kind of travelling so I really thought he would be up for it.

Pippajo - Thanks I have a feeling that once I have had my holiday I will be refreshed enough to start handling things. At the moment I am just exhausted and I guess my body is slowing me down. I know that I have been through much worse periods in my life and come through the other end so this is no different (except as you say I have to accept that I am physically ill)

Now enough maudlin posts from me. Onwards and Upwards To Infinity and Beyond!!!!!!!

OK. Plans for today to help me start moving forward
    • completely overhaul my home office. Clear out lots of rubbish and have a move around of furniture
    • thin out the bookshelves - bag up excess for Oxfam book shop
    • sift through paperwork and have a shredding lesson
    • finish off putting up decorations in living room - tree went up last night. The earliest I have ever put it up

Sounds good cheri, good luck with it - post the progress on here.

Isn't it weird about meeting people off the internet? I think because so often its "lonelyhearts" or !!!!!!, or money is involved, people are extra-wary. And you never have proof of who people are... except, now we do! Cos lots of us have met! :)

Brrrr It is so cold out there

Well I havent finished the overhaul of the office. I made the mistake of going into the other bedroom (sorry make that junk room) as OH had decided on Sunday to look for something. I had spent days tidying it up earlier this year and, despite it being full of junk, had it fairly organised. Sorry I went in yesterday because it was as if a tornado had hit it so I ended up doing that all over again (sigh). So the office is on the cards today.
I have been very naughty. I have booked to have my hair done tomorrow. I am quite worried. As I am going very grey I have opted to have the current colour stripped out of the ends and lots of ash blonde highlights put through to try to blend in with the grey. The idea being that I will eventually go grey (gracefully) without it looking so mish mash. Not sure now I have booked it. Also I have to be there for 9 and I have no car. I will need to hope that the village bus arrives in plenty of time to get me to the town. I might even be even more naughty and get my eyebrows done and buy some new foundation and mascara. Blow the savings. It is Christmas soon after all and it can be my present to myself in time for my new start.

    So plans for today
    • sort out office (mark 2)
    • slow cooker on with stew for tea
    • clean kitchen floor
    • start reading my new book
    • watch something fun on iplayer

I am going to try MGs begin and end strategy and also the 15 minute dash. Combining the two should do it. Guess that the alarm clock will be worked hard today :)

See you all at the other end.

Oh, I am also plotting my new diary and I may start a new blog so I am thinking about names at the moment.
