Thank you so much everybody for your lovely birthday wishes. Today is my birthday!

I am sorry to report that I did not make it to Liverpool.I made it as far as Sarnau (just outside Bala) before performing what could only be described as a less than perfect 360 degree turn (3 times) and then headed sideways through a fence ending up in the middle of a rather picturesque snow covered farmers field. I might add that I was the right way up and facing in the right direction when I stopped. Moo thought it was a rather novel way to stop the car for a lovely walk in a new spot. I, on the other hand, thought "OH FOOK - YOU STUPID COW".
I was rescued by a rather scrummy bobby and a very understanding farmer, who proceeded to tell me that they were amazed that I had managed to steer past the tree and the rather large outcrop of rock. Somebody the day before had, unfortunately, ended up parked up the tree and another car had landed on the rock. Of course I told them that I had managed to manoeuvre the car (in reality I cannot even remember how I got to where I did) and they thought that was just great. It would appear that there had been 3 accidents in the same place the day before.
I was recovered from the pub in Bala where the lovely recovery man had arranged for me and Moo to wait by a rather concerned OH who had travelled down from Cheshire to get me in double quick time (mind you I had been in the field for 2 hours before I let him know that I was in the pub in Bala). He has now had to go into work this morning. He did buy me some lovely pressies. Box of chocolates also received in post so intend to eat them this morning.
the whole point of the weekend was to try Moo out in the home boarders to make sure he settles at Christmas. I was heading there because I had to have him in by 10.30. Obviously I didnt make it. They would not take him in later in the day or on Sunday so I am now seriously considering if I can put him there at all if they are so inflexible given the circumstances. They didnt even bother to reply to one text asking if I could put him in on Sunday. At this point I have to say that despite the accident he was fine. Had him checked, no injuries and he is his usual self. I will now need to start hunting for another dog minder. Happy days. I ended up sleeping on a friends couch (OH parents wont let Moo stay there and there was no way I was leaving him in the garage) as she was happy to let Moo stay. OH then brought me back yesterday. On the way back we came across an accident in, yes you guessed it, exactly the same spot as mine. We stopped to help. It all hit home and I crumbled. Today I am aching all over, have a bruised leg and a lump the size of tennis ball at the back of my knee. Just realised I am not registered at any doctors. So rang the local surgery who are happy to let me go in and register and see me this afternoon.

So plans for my birthday today now are
    • [STRIKE]phone insurance company - car is at recovery centre (probably written off) [/STRIKE]
    • p[STRIKE]hone doctors to register and make appointment[/STRIKE]
    • have a bath
    • go to the doctors (will need to get a taxi as too scared to get there by bus too much ice and frozen snow) not MSE but will pay for a taxi (£20 there and back)

Oh good grief cherisong!  Big hugs to you girl, must have been so frightening! So glad you're alright, adn the nice fellas rescued you. And chocolates too :D How mean of the inflexible boarders though! You're right - it's probably not the right place given that they were so uncooperative in the circumstances.

Goodness, can't believe what happened. Take it easy, sounds like you're still rather shocked by it xxx

You poor thing, you do sound shocked still, as Cheery said. The troubles you're having with finding dog boarders! I can't believe its so difficult, I'd have thought people were crying out to do that sort of work, even over Christmas its good money for not that much, really.

But I'm glad you're getting a taxi, when you're so shaken, and that your surgery will cooperate.

    Lots of hugs.

Thanks all, think it has shaken me more that I realised. I am so pleased to be ok but still feeling sorry for myself.

You're *supposed* to feel sorry for yourself when you have a crash like that - spinning all those times, and then sleepingon a sofa (tho bless the friend for taking you!).

    Snuggle up to Moo.

  • Gentle hugs, Cheri,

Came over from the Matrix to see what had happened to you - what a shame, but I'm so relieved you have survived physically relatively unscathed. Yes, you'll feel wobbly and vulnerable for a while, but the main thing is you and Moo are still in one piece, if a bit shaken and stirred.

Accidents are always horrible and very collywobble-inducing. I hope you can begin to accept the fact you survived so well is the best birthday gift in the circumstances.

Keep warm and enjoy the chocs.

OMG Cheri, just popped over from the matrix to see what happened.
Sooooooooooo glad that you and Moo are ok. And that you are going to get checked out.
 at inflexible dog boarders. Some way to run a business.
Main thing is you are ok though.
Popover to Matrix when you can for some Hot chocolate, hob nobs and loads of friendly empathy.
    Hugs
