Oh no Cherisong! (although I must confess to laughing slightly) :rotfl: I always end up laughing at him even though at the time i try to show him that I am not a happy bunny

Thanks for the budget update though :) I love to see how well people are doing :j Not so well but not a total failure

What a fab idea about the expenses envelope! Then you're not always having to pinch it from another one and ruining your budget! :j :j Yes, why did I not think of that? too close to the problem me thinks

Won't shout as your light's not on (although mine is - oops!) Hope I haven't passed on Infectious Work Avoidance Sickness to you! (IWAS? As in I-Was-Just-going-to-do-it-in--a-minute-honest-gov??) :rotfl: :rotfl: That's my new name for it :rotfl:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Cheery, I am easily distracted just lately. Managed to pull myself together though and reported in on time and with full facts and figure. PHEW

I'm going to 'try' the envelope system this month, although like you it is a bit of a weird month in that I am off for 2 weeks and will involve buying more food and having more expenses for days out. At least unlike other months when I am £300 in the red when I get paid, I should actually be in the black so feel like I have loads of money at my disposal. It won't work out like that though because I have After School Club fees to fork out for but hopefully the whole system will rein me in a bit and make me think what I am spending. If I can see it actually coming out of the envelopes rather than just figures on a screen....

Good luck with it Poles. I think that it is difficult the first month but it was worth trying it.

Playful pups do make me laugh, does he do that bum in the air thing, front paws and head low ? You know you are in trouble then.

OH YES:rotfl::rotfl:. Glad I am not the only one who has to deal with that. He kept me up all night crying. Dont know what the heck was wrong with him. Went on 3 different nightime PJ walks. Lovely star watching though. I think he is missing OH and is just looking for some attention to be honest. About to head off with him again in 10 minutes. Although it is pouring with rain today

Have to admit the envelope thing confuses the heck out of me. I slap everything on plastic in order to get a pathetic amount of loyalty points, my wallet rarely contains any actual cash. Couldn't cope with a fiver from here for this and a few quid from there for that. I'd end up with loads of cash in one envelope, IOUs all over the shop and a huge credit card bill.

Erm, I think that I am with you on that one. I used to just pay out all my DDs, Do a big shop at the beginning of the month, put away the stuff that I paid once a year and then what was left had to do me. I think that was when I was most in control. I will give the envelopes a bit more of a go but I have a feeling I will revert to the old style.

I agree that cash is much easier for me to manage and if I have a set budget for everything all week that works even better.

I would :j:j for joy because it is Friday, except that this weekend I am working both days :( I have to travel 2 hours today after a full day in work ready to start at 8am tomorrow, same again Sunday full day in work and then 2 hour travel home :( Good news is OH is coming home this evening! Ahhh but he is then going to come onwards with me and spend the weekend with me so that we can see each other in the evening. We wont then see each other again until I arrive for the mini holiday for the proms :( That means it will have been 5 weeks and only seen each other for two evenings. But things can only improve from here.
Banking done this morning. Received a letter from Pet Insurers to say that they had "missed" taking this months DD and that they would be taking it this week. That is ok though because, thanks to the envelope system, I havent drawn anything from the account since payday and so I have not managed to dip into any of the outstanding DDs. :T thus leaving a deficit. in the spirit of MGs thread and being postive WOW I AM GOOD - positive affirmations bring postive actions and all that.

On other matters I was a little naughty yesterday and stopped off in my favourite furniture recycling shop on my way home from my meeting and it was full to bursting. I just missed out on a beautiful gentlemans wardrobe that would have shabbied up lovely for £40. but I did manage to get a really sweet lamp table, solid oak and not a mark on it.£10. Got it home and was having a good look inside the little drawers and found a Priory Furniture mark. I am sooooooo pleased. Might not paint it as planned as it looks nice as it is.

Right off to forest and noticed a lot of mushrooms yesterday morning so will take my basket along today.

Early morning foraging sounds like a great way to start the day. Its too wet here for that. Indeed its so wet that I slapped on head to toe Hi-viz waterproofing and left the house looking like an ad. for a government backed road saftey campaign. Managed to stay dry unlike the hounds who came in drenched and waited until they were in the hallway to shake off. Will need to wash down the walls *again* once they dry. House now reeks of damp dog.

Enjoy your evenings with OH even if your daylight hours are hell on earth.

• Morning Cheri, at least your weekend working will be puncuated with OH. Is lovely having your mini holiday to look forward to. I'll bet Moo can tell when OH is due home.

The hat shop you mentioned the other day, there is a well known hat shop locally, customers such as Madness, ZZ Top. They have a hat festival week approaching, so no doubt the people of this town will be even more outrageous than normal !

Just back from a walk by the river, the slugs are out in force, no mushrooms here though.

Morning Cheri

Small amounts of time snatched with OH must be so precious. Still, absence makes the heart grow fonder and then you have the proms and seeing other half to look forward to. It will whizzzzzzz by I'm sure.

I love poking round second hand furniture shops. Mainly for the bargain but also because I don't want the same stuff that everuone seems to have in their houses these days. it is my pland to replace some of my IKEA stuff for something more 'grown-up' :rotfl:

DC - I love the idea of a hat festival!!

A hat festival. Oh now that sounds right up my street. I LOVE hats, I am not so bothered with shoes although I do like nice bright shoes, I prefer boots, but I do love a nice hat. I am not quite sure where this love of hats comes from. It seemed to happen all of a sudden. So I buy hats and knickers to cheer mysef up. That hat shop was just soooooo lovely but also expensive. I dream of going back there one day to buy one just because I can! DC could you take some photos and share them of all the people wearing hats? That would cheer my day up.

Poles, it is lovely to see OH and snatched time sounds oh so romantic doesnt it? I like that idea............ a bit like a Brief Affair the film.
We do enjoy each others company when we get together and it does keep things fresh. Somebody asked me the other day about getting married but I said that I feel that us not being married and still together shows me that we are more committed to each other because we want to be together not because we are bound together, if that makes any sense. It does also give me something to look forward to.

Cheery, I am having quite a cheery day today. Only one last minute dropped on me this morning with a deadline of lunchtime job today. But I got it done. I decided that, as I am travelling this evening I would take the afternoon off. Do lots of catching up housework and ironing before I set off. And where do you find me :rotfl::rotfl: I am officially addicted.

Spent two hours on the phone to a friend last night. It was lovely to catch up.
