Quick confession - As well as ironing sofa covers last night I ironed my Duvet Cover:eek::eek:

Will put it onto the bed later and test whether there is a difference to how I feel.

Ha! Converted you! I must admit though that I bought DD a new Hello Kitty duvet cover last week, washed and ironed it before first use and it really creases  I hope it's one of those that gets better with age. It'd better be.

Now you're making me really jealous with your night time PJ walks - does your life get any more perfect?

Seems even old farts like myself can learn something new. Will be wowing the DDs with my newfound knowledge asap meanwhile the best article I found on Sirius is here. Tis obvious when you know what you're looking for. Now I just have to find it. Thats tonights bedtime projsect, if it ever stops raining.

Hope you're managing to get some work done, I'd distract myself far too much to be productive.

Moo that is a great link !

The reason I like sirius is because one early autumn evening DH was looking at the stars and saw the twinkling of the many colours, it enchanted him because it was clearly not an aircraft and it was almost traffic light in it's colour changes. Aa a total technophobe he asked me to google it and we found something similar to Moo's link. However what further interested all of us by that time was that the light you see twinkling from Sirius is 8 light years away. So that means what you can see is the result of something that happened 8 years ago. Just need to see it sometimes.

You'll know it when you see it, because it really does twinkle, almost looks like its moving. Not seen it since around March, but early October it'll be easy to see.

  • Cheri the light year thing is amazing. There is a link within the link moo posted to the light year calculation.

Anyway, you get all the fun, walking in PJ's sorting gardeners out, I shall just go watch celebrity masterchef...

DC I will have a good read of the link later. With regards the PJs, I just realised that it can be quite fun really but I do always have a coat over the top. You know I moved to Wales from a place just outside Liverpool and we used to be amazed at the young girls who would go shopping in Tescos/Asda and drop the kids off at school in their PJs. They would be all made up with fleecy PJs and Uggs on. I remember stopping at a zebra crossing one day and being amazed that these two women were out in broad daylight in their PJs. It was definitely a sheep following exercise. MAD. I only do it out of necessity if the Moo gets me up in the middle of the night or wants to go out after I have got ready for bed. It is quite liberating to be able to do it.
Every time I write to you on here I remember my holiday to Dorset and the time I spent in your neck of the woods. There was a lovely shop that sold really pretty hats. Moo was intrigued by the boats and he stood on his hind legs with his paws on the wall watching them sailing out. You are very lucky to live there as it is beautiful and I would live there if I didnt live here.

Poles, my life is not quite perfect. That would happen if my OH could be home with me and I could shift this credit card debt that is really weighing me down. But it is as close to perfection as I have ever been so I am very grateful for that and aware of how difficult my friends have it at the moment. They are going through a very tough time.

hi cherisong, i've not posted but have been reading your updates.

thank you for the quote from Nelson Mandela, I've copied and pasted for future reference and am going to re-read Long Walk to Freedom on my week off work :)

I just wanted to ask, a couple of inspirational books/courses/techniques have been mentioned on your thread and wondered if any of you had any favourites you would recommend over others?

I am at a bit of a crossroads (to put it mildly) and need to shake my life to the core. got a week off to think hard but i don't want to waste it by ambling mindlessly!

I'm loving reading the dog stories especially him having his paws up watching the boats :)

I am dog sitting my mum's 3 dogs - 2 greyhounds and a whippet! 2 of them are quite chilled, but one of them is very hectic :j

good luck with all your contemplating, and great news on the proms! I've only been once when I was much younger but loved it :)

Hi Little H and welcome. Thank you for reading. I am finding everybody on here is very inspirational. My own personal favourite books are two that I return to regularly. These are The Art of Happiness by Dalai Llama, I have just started to read this again. I have bought it for a couple of friends for gifts when I have felt that it would suit them and they have all enjoyed reading it. You need to be open to the suggestions for it to make sense. I am not a religious person ( I consider myself to be what I call a recovering Catholic) and I approached this book with a very open mind. He speaks a lot of sense. The other book I enjoy but it is quite heavy going at times is The Motivated Mind by Raj Persaud. It helps you to focus on different areas of your life and identify why you act certain ways which in turn helps you to approach things in the way that suits your personality. However I think that inspiration comes in many forms as it totally depends on what you need at that moment in your life. I love to read biographies. I recently read Chris Evans autobiography and found a lot of inspiration in that. He is a remarkable man and very humble with it despite what you might think. He is a very hard working person and it inspired me to do a couple of things with my life. I haven't read Long walk to freedom. I seem to recall thinking that I would find it hard to handle but maybe I should get that one. Lots of people on here are reading the Secret. As I say it depends on what kind of inspiration you are in need of and what you want from your life. If, as you say you are at a crossroads and dont know what you want then Raj Persauds book would be good. He starts by getting you to write down what your perfect day would be like and then helps you to work out how to work towards having that perfect day by breaking down your own barriers to having that. The Nelson Mandela quote would fit with that I guess.

Sounds like you will have your hands full with the furry friends. Is it the greyhounds that are chilled out. I love greyhounds for that very reason.

I started my diary at the start of a fortnight off work and it really motivated me to do lots of things that I have been putting off. Do you have a diary? I will pop over if you do. With the help of DC, Poles and Scrooge (who sadly isnt posting now) and many other people I managed to tackle the challenge that is my spare bedroom. Not finished yet but little and often is helping. And I will have lots to ebay when I get my you know what into gear.

Has anyone noticed I managed to deflect working on my money update to finding something else to do:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Probably because I have to admit that my envelope system has not quite gone to plan. It is not a failure though, I just need to adjust the system to fit my lifestyle. More to follow when I concentrate enough.
