First if you have on your desktop the screen you see when you start windows at the bottom or top of the page a bar with some program icons on right click on the IE icon select properties.....you should see it say Run... select from the drop down "maximised" click apply then ok and close it.

do you mean that funny tray thing with the quickstart icons?

'Bump' because I was wondering the same thing.

When im on a page the right click to open in a new window it opens in a small box. Is there a way to change this that someone could explain in very very simple english. (Im not the brightest bulb on the tree when it comes to techie thingumies!)

I tried to do what was explained above but no joy

    Any help would be appreciated.

gremlin, that method described by Wig does work

I got this problem just the other day again - some websites open a small window, but this stays as a default in your settings, and I had a half-width one

    to precis his post:

[I didn't bother with the Properties on the shortcut]

open a link from an existing window, like this
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/index.html

resize the second window and move it to fit the screen, using the cursor (hover at the right or lower edge, then press, to stretch it)

close this window, then the new one

quickest way to resize the window is

click the blue bar at the top and move the window to top left of screen

click and stretch at the bottom right corner (it does both edges at once)

Yes, but if your IE starts from new in maximised mode anyway there is little point in doing this step. just check it does say 'maximised' in the "run" menu.

ok.. i dont have an IE shortcut in my tray, and when i right click -> properties on the IE button on my desktop, all i get is the box which lets me choose my home page, security settings etc... i cant see any 'run' option, maximised or otherwise.

    please help!

pavlovs, if your problem is the same as mine then it is much easier than it sounds. (put it this way if I can do it, anyone can).

follow redux instructions by right clicking the link in post#15 to open in a new window.

then make that window as large as you want by dragging the bottom right corner out. Dont close that window but close the original window instead.

Then close the second (dragged open) window last.

Once you open a new window next time it will open in the new size.

    Hope that was clear (ish!)

ok but you do have a quick launch tray right...?

put your mouse over the tray move it to the right, just after the last icon there. The mouse arrow should change to a double 'arrow ended' horizontal thingy. When you have this left click and drag the tray to the right to make it bigger....(assuming your tray is bottom left on your screen, if it is top right then drag the tray out to the left.)

ok now click and drag the IE icon from your desktop into the quick launch tray. It should stay there. You can now right click it and put the run to "maximised".
