Get over the identity element.
Nothing in her proof of identity ties her to your property and the period in question.
The tenancy agreement is the only document that reliably ties a person of a given identity to the property and timeframe.
Simples.
Too simples for some, it appears.Act in haste, repent at leisure.

Thanks Clutton.
My life is too short. I am copping out of this thread. I am going to bang my head against a brick wall, or enter into a discussion about how many angels can stand on a pin-head. Anything at all -Big Brother, repeats of 1980 tv programmes, Jeremy Kyle repeats, or even paint the outside lavatory. Anything at all!"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

1 document you steadfastly refuse to provide.
If privacy was such an over-riding concern earlier, why should a V5, driving licence, or passport be provided ?
Pure bloody mindedness, as far as I can see.
Is there some sort of fraud going on with your rental house Barry? Is this why you are reluctant to give the tenancy agreement?RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

@ cloudcuckooland: Not so
@ clutton: you've taken the sentence out of context. It was used to demonstrate a point, which you've spectacularly missed
@ terryw: you missed out watching paint dry
@ missmoneypenny: no
It's interesting to note that you, along with most of the other contributors to this thread, have all avoided answering the question that was in the initial post; and further, it seems that most of the forumites that have responded are all too wrapped up with why this and why that and voicing opinions - which, incidentally, were never asked for - but hey-ho, it gave them something to do and think about. Bandwagons and sheep spring to mind!
It would seem that you lot all like to accept things as they are and never question or challenge anything. Heaven forbid it might annoy or upset or offend someone. Burst the bubbles you're all in and either post an answer to the original question or don't bother posting.

Neither.
Firstly, to those that offered genuine advice rather than jumping on others' bandwagons - thank you. It is appreciated.
Secondly, I joined the forum to see if I could get an answer to a question which 24 hours later still hasn't been answered. Since the posting however, I have been accused of fraud and have been told what I should do. I did not join the forum to ask for opinions on whether I am right or wrong in my course of action, or on what I should do. Unfortunately, I rose to the bait and responded to the postings, and the thread moved off topic.
I asked if anyone knew of the relevant piece of legislation. So far the answer is no. If anyone can respond otherwise, I await a suitable post.Barry D0 -

Fortunately I was not asked to provide a tenancy agreement when signing responsiblity from myself to the tenant, but had I been asked I would have.
Accepting that in my little bubble would keep me from a court and cost me nothing. You can challenge it if you want, but don't cry if it lands you a fine or even a prison sentence - which ultimately non-payment of CT can do.0
