There is no such thing as " registered disabled" any more.

If discounts were to be offered, why should it only be to disabled drivers rather than passengers?

Because it doesn't suit the OP - it would appear they are only interested in helping themselves. ;)

Ive known about Newhaven Dieppe routes and fares for ages, but whilst their car prices arent bad their camper prices are appalling which is why I dont even consider them now, and to be honest I'd rather get to Calais and be on the road than feel seasick on a ferry for 4 hours.
The other problem with Newhaven Dieppe is that it often gets cancelled due to bad weather whereas Dover Calais or Dover Boulogne very rarely gets cancelled, (except for stikes)
Why not mention that at the start, to save ONW the job of finding the information?
Also, while there's certainly no harm in politely asking for a discount, your original email sounded (to me) to be hectoring or demanding, rather than requesting.

Why would the ferry companies offer the OP a discount? He is telling them he is so happy with their prices that he uses them 4 times a year.

When I travel to Germany (about once every couple of years - and my brother drives us....I couldn't save up my DLA and go 4 times a year...I need my DLA for things like shopping and laundry!) i usually travel on the Princes Line.

I have never asked for a discount . It never occured to me.I can't see why I would be entitled to one.

However, they are really good about letting us drive onto the ferry ahead of everyone else. This means we can park the car next to the lift up to the passenger decks....This makes a huge difference as I can't walk far, and also helps me get to the cabin we book and avoid crowds.
  • tbh id rather they just treated disabled people with a bit more dignity.

up til 2 years ago i worked in european transport, doing up to 4 crossings a week on dover to calais route. someone needs to tell them disabled people can still work as commercial drivers!
always traveled via "seachance" as that was who my customers account was with.
their freighter ferry had no lift available meaning a trudge of 4 flights of stairs i couldnt manage. when i complained all they offered was to allow me to wait for a later sailing on a passenger boat.
on 2 of the passenger boats there was no lifts to the freight drivers lounge, you had to climb stairs. once there youd get a subsidised meal,. not much use if you couldnt get there tho.

on deck 7 (main deck) there was a disabled toilet, but it was kept locked.
there was a sign permanently on the door saying locked to stay clean!
you had to queue up at reception to get the key, ok if the boat was quiet, but not just after boarding when there was a busload of tourists also queing up for beaurea de change at the same counter.
a couple of times when the ladies was packed out,and i got ignored at the counter i ended up in the gents as an emergency.

i got a letter of reply stating they could only work within the confines of the ships they had and telling me they would be getting a wionderful new one soon.

just before i finished working they had the brand new boat, all modcons. guess what? still no lift to drivers canteen and disabled loo still kept locked:(

i didnt have the chance to vote with my feet when someone else was booking the crossings but now im no longer travelling commercially il never use seachance again even if they are cheaper.....

You need to set yourself up in business as a mind reader, though in this case it isnt working as your attempts at knowing what I want to do is failing miserably.

So what do you hope to achieve? You don't seem to want to help anybody else, only your own situation?

ive been struggling with this lately, my son has a disability and the amount of things that have been opened up for him, such as his DLA, carers allowance and all the things people keep telling me about like queue jumping and carers getting in free. i understand the financial side of it as we do have alot more outgoings because of it but the other things im struggling with, why should carers get in free? why should the disabled person be entitled to cheaper fares? (they are still using the same service) etc why they are anymore 'entitled' to these things than other people? my friend is a prime example she has epilepsy (not fits just she blanks for a few seconds) but she has a free bus pass because she isnt able to drive....well lots of people cant drive, arent able to but they dont get free bus passes. i cant drive so i walk everywhere, even my children walk every where.

im not judging im being geniune in my questions, i just dont get it!!
