Don't think I could have said it any better than that.

I don't see anything wrong with your question at all. I also don't think there's another polite way of wording it.

Tell that to Hampshire County Council.

There are some local schemes but no overall registered disabled scheme any more.

Because the driver is usually the person that does the booking and is the lead name on most reservation, Therefore, any discount would be routed through him/her

But if it's the passenger who's disabled (which must often be the case) then the party won't get a discount.

LD Lines offer a discount for disabled travellers.

if you fall in the following categories,

    senior over 60
    youth under 25
    student under 27
    disabled person

you are entitled to a 20% discount on presentation of document proving your claim (can only be done at our call centre or at the ferry terminal).

This discount is only available on the Newhaven - Dieppe service.

Then the idea is that the disabled person makes the booking.
Same as a Disabled Rail card.

You can throw up any argument you want but unless we try we wont get anything. All Im doing is asking them.
If they say "No" which they probably will do, at least I can say I tried, instead of sitting on my !!!! and moaning

Thats great if you want to Travel Newhaven-Dieppe. Why not all Routes?

Then again that service is horribly overpriced as it is.

If one is a member of Mobilise (the Disabled Drivers Organisation) then they have some special deals with Ferry operators.

Also any ex HM Forces Veterans (disabled or otherwise) can obtain discounts via the MOD Discount Scheme (for example Stena give upto 12.5% off etc).

Ive known about Newhaven Dieppe routes and fares for ages, but whilst their car prices arent bad their camper prices are appalling which is why I dont even consider them now, and to be honest I'd rather get to Calais and be on the road than feel seasick on a ferry for 4 hours.
The other problem with Newhaven Dieppe is that it often gets cancelled due to bad weather whereas Dover Calais or Dover Boulogne very rarely gets cancelled, (except for stikes)

There is no such thing as " registered disabled" any more.

That depends on where in the country you live. Sussex, Hampshire and Swansea (and quite possibly others I don't know about) still maintain a register.
