I was working in a customers house, the house next door was having some building work done, but my client didnt even know about it.
This was a detached house, as well as the one next door that was getting work done.
My customer had a lovely old jag, and he had parked way on the opposite side of the house, away from where the men were working.

He had come in from work and saw brick dust on the jag, as they had been sawing and of course the dust gets everywhere.
They hadnt covered the car or even knocked on the door to let anyone know there was going to be brick dust, or suggest they move the car, no warning what so ever, as I was there all the time whilst the family was at work.

Anyway, middle of the afternoon it started raining, and of course got in with the brick dust on his car.
The car was in a right state by the time it stopped raining, man of the house didnt know what was going on as he was at work, and of course I didnt know that there was any dust, as I was inside all the time.

He went mad when he got in, finally got it sorted out, but it cost the builders a fair bit of money to put the finish right.
If he had known they were going to be working, he would either have parked it round a family member, or covered it up.

I would notify my neighbours if there was going to be any work and it might affect thier cars. give them a chance to move them, or arrange with builders or your self supply suitable covering.
If people know in advance then it would cut down a lot of hostility.

i work at a LA and we get these type of complaints all the time. If it only happened on the short space of time you are saying then this would not be classed as a stat nuisance and no action would be taken.

you wouldnt believe what people complain about with their neighbour!

    Hi,
new neighbour from across the road

We are not talking next door here, it's over the road.
how could you possibly know and be expected to tell everyone in the immediate vicinity to shift their cars.
When we had block paving done i told my next door neighbours and cleaned their windows afterwards but over the road?... come on:(

Print off the following and stick it to his window screen.

Dear Neighbour of someone I've never met,

I have recently been informed of your 'dusty car plight' and would like to take this opportunity to point out of a couple things:

    1. The World does not owe you anything.
    2. The World does not revolve around you.
    3. The World has dust.
    4. Cars can be cleaned.
    5. Cars are lumps of moving metal.
    6. Cars do not extend your penis, make your hair grow back, or make your daddy want to tell you he loves you. Nor do they stop your wife from being disappointed in you.

With this is mind, please get off your photograph-taking, whingy-whiny, sanctimonious, dusty high-horse - you great big weaner.

I, and many others who you have never met, are shaking our head in the direction of your dusty house with as sh*ty old drive.

    all the best,

    Sam

p.s. looks like rain tonight - better complain about your roof getting wet to the council - d*ck head.
