It's not even that uncommon a condition, a lot of people have medical dietary requirements these day. If they could see the damage that gluten does to your insides they'd be horrified as well. Personally I'd get them to pay your bloody fuel and parking costs too, if I have paid for food to be provided as part of an arrangement then I fully expect to be fed with suitable produce, end of.
I can't say too much about this as I don't want to ID myself, but I am being sent by an associated organisation so all my petrol and overnight costs etc are being picked up by a third party.
The odd thing is though, I'm going as an outsider to make sure that everything being done is done in a fair and equitable manner so that no one, either from race colour or creed (or disability) is disadvantaged.
I just wondered if i was over reacting as I did feel that I was being told off a little for daring to ask.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hmm, I am working and staying away over the next few weeks and am required to remain in a venue for 'long' days where food will be provided, I then stay in a travel lodge style place overnight each day. I requested gluten free food at the venue for lunch (I have coeliac disease) and have just been told that they will not supply this due to budget cuts so I can either eat the normal sandwiches or have to go without.
Equalities act? I've never (wheat intolerance) had this issue. I remember going to a charity open day and taking my own food just in case they hadn't provided for me. They did provide food for me.
I don't understand how it would be that expensive. I was given a selection of vegetables and some meats. That was fine.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Coeliac is not specifically mentioned in the act and I have never made a point of being aggresive about it. I'm used to be forgotten, although more often that not people are happy to try and help and can usually rustle up a banana from somewhere.
I did send back a very general email saying that I will be leaving the venue though to try and hunt down some suitable food each day , usually I would have just gone without, but I feel that I should at least make a stand about this especially as I also have sugar level issues (unfortunately a connection to the coeliac) and cannot afford to start fainting or throwing up if i get hungry.
I suppose it is all a minor issue really, I am in awe sometimes reading the threads on here of what others have to put up with on a daily basis due to either physical or mental disabilities.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd be jumping up and down and saying "feed me suitable food or I don't go". But I'm in an exceptionally ornary temper today, so probably best to just ignore me.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
No, you're not over reacting, imho. When I was working, we had a Buddhist vegan on our staff, and it wasn't a major problem for venues to find something suitable for him.

needing-help wrote: »Thank you both any help would be much appreciated I have no idea where to start or what to do. At the moment I am feeling so guilty, all the time her joints have clicked and she has said it hurts I have told her she would grow out of it but it's getting worse. Last week she streched and both hips made a huge click and she couldnt move. I helped her up and they clicked and she was crying in pain.
She doesn't walk far before she says her legs hurt and I have put it down to her just being lazy.
I have been sat crying about what I have done to her:(
Trialia I would love to talk to you thank you and hope you are feeling better soon.
I had that when I was younger; we had to get the doctor out a couple of times because my hips or knees just locked and I couldn't get up. She should probably try to avoid squatting or putting her legs in unusual positions, it ought to help with it.
As for the pain and being told it was growing pains or me being lazy...yeah, that sounds familiar. My dad likes to try to one-up me about it. :-/
Thank you; I hope so too. You're welcome to get in touch any time you like.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -
My hips used to get stuck while me and now ex hubby were err....having loving times. I would be completely stuck, unable to move and he would literally, have to yank my legs straight again....complete agony while stuck, complete agony during the yank and complete agony for a while after.
Didn't stop us practicing though!:rotfl:We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I had the growing pains speech but I was still diagnosed as an early teen (im 42 now, my diagnosis was 30 years ago or so now ) and my kids were both given the same speech but with my knowledge they wernt dismissed as many people are.0
