Am I the only one who cba with decorating my sticks?:D
Mind you, they are lovely hazel wood ones, so no real need.

I was only using one when I got married, and I did put lilac ribbon around it, to match my dress, it has to be said.

Well, thats bone scan out of the way............no problems really but why do hospital rooms have to be so white and bright ?? Not brilliant for my epilepsy........thankfully I was ok but just a bit light headed........painful as well not helped by laying on a hard bed, dead flat looking at white bright ceiling while having bone scan. Seemed everything I was on was rock hard..........wheelchair included.

Love the idea of you all decorating your sticks..........I'm using my dads old ones at the moment so leaving them as they are......they're lovely old wooden ones. Once I get my new ones it'll be a different tale.

Occupational therapist is referring me to nhs wheelchair service but reckons it'll take a fair while so if I need one in the meantime I'll hire one from Red Cross.

Well thats it for now.............can't sit here for long as back is giving me jip and dinners about ready.
    :)

My favourite stick is already decorated, it's the Poppy one from Switchsticks, I've got a right-hand ergonomic handle on it though.
Switchsticks sent out the ordinary red handle that goes with the stick as well, and it is so lovely, but I know the ergonomic one is better for me.
I had tinsel on one of my reserve sticks at Christmas/New Year and it was great to see it bring a smile to people's faces.

    Sounds like it!

After the discussion with SS, I may be getting a new cane - not sure what's happening yet though.

SS are organising a visit from the OT for me. What should I expect?

My GP has referred me to the OT, it was in relation to a wheelchair but I might get a generalised assessment too so I'd also like to know what happens..

  • I'm not struggling too badly at the moment thankfully, but it's only because my mum is doing it all for me and I'm really concerned that she's going to crack soon as she also has full time work which isn't going well at the moment, so I need to take the pressure off of her at home pronto otherwise it could easily spiral down hill :(

It might be worth her asking for a carers assessment too.

  • Yeah, I rang social services a while ago (around xmas) and they said they'd phone me back within a week but didn't. I'm going to chase them up again but I'm not sure how I would feel about irregular people coming to my house, let alone caring for my personal needs. I'm hoping I can take enough of the load from my mum with adaptations and things that will help me do more for myself, that I won't need someone else for that sort of thing.

I got a letter today from the BBC asking if I wanted help with the digital switchover because I'm disabled. I thought that was quite nice of them.

I have had a really bad headache today and yesterday, though. It's like a ball of pain behind my eye. It's gone now - when I got home from work today I went to bed and had a nap.
