Just a very quickie as I am shattered. I had DLA Appeal today and have been awarded HRM and LRC for 2 years and I am delighted. I am also moving on Friday to a property that has a downstairs toilet and an adapted shower room downstairs. It's about 25 mins drive away from my support system and the area I know best, but I am mighty relieved to have got security. It's been and is still going to be one hell of a week!I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0

Heartfelt congrats to you on the success of your appeal - and how expletive annoying that you had to go through so much stress to get it. I got so-called 'indefinite' HRM a year ago; of course it will all be in the air for 2013, but I know how you feel. May your move go well - hopefully the DLA backdate will help finance the many expenses. A downstairs loo! An adapted shower room! formaldehyde_perfume wrote: »Since my last post things went very bad, physically. For some unknown reason my medication (which usually produces no side affects worth mentioning) when taken with or in a short time frame from yoghurt produces a vile stomach ache. This time was the worst I've ever experienced, I was in agony for 5 hours and nothing I could do would ease the pain at all. I don't know how or why, but I fell asleep from exhaustion on the sofa, and when I woke up half an hour ago 95% of the pain has gone, although I now have swollen tonsils and a sore throat for some reason.
I hope I never have to go through something like that again.
Sue - well done! I know how hard it is to confront and be proactive about things that you can't do any more, adaptations and stuff, let alone the label of disability. Be proud of yourselfMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

Wooooo that's such great news! And I'm glad you found somewhere to live at last. Have you got people helping you move? I know it's still a hell of a lot of hassle but its much easier than trying to do it on your own.0 -
I've booked a man with a van who was recomended to me as someone used to moving people with disabilities. There would be no way that I could manage it all myself. I will do as much as I can myself but not even attempting to try with bigger furniture etc. Luckily, I will have access to old house or a couple of days after I've moved. Have applied for a crisis loan to help with the cost of this.
I was lucky enough that the Council were willing to accept a Duty of Care to me and viewed re-housing me as an emergency and the right type of place just happened to come up.
I am dreading the actual move, but the amount of stress of my shoulders with the DLA and the new house will be immense. I am incredibly short of sleep and tired and sore, but I just have to get through this week and then I can start settling in.
My only on-going worry is catching the cat to get her to the new house and then I'll lock her in a quiet room out of the way until all the furore dies down!I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to breakMy attitude depends on my Latitude 49° 55' 0" N 6° 19' 60 W0 -
CWTA, I'm so happy for you! Congratulations on getting things sorted for you at last!
I'm a little happier this week on the subject of income - next week I turn 25 so my income support is going up. It's only £40 a month more, but that's a lot when you scrape for most things, so it will be a great help!Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -
CWTA - have you got any friends or family that can come over for even an evening to help? Also, the best advice I've ever been given is to pack up essentials that you need immediately together, like tea/kettle/meds etc and label everything!0

Strangely if I take 2 of my tablets together it makes me sick, but I mentioned it to my doctor and it isn't meant to happen. But it really must be that, as if I take em together then an hour later I throw up. So now I split them into morning tablets and night tablets and I'm fine.

Im pleased that some of you got good news today, sorry but there are so many posts that I cant answer them individually, Im tired and we have the baby.Got to go to a Pathways evening tonight at middle son's school as he needs to choose which GCSE's he is doing. It is so very different to eldest son as he knew exactly what he wanted to do before we went to the evening but middle son just says music..well that takes care of one of the choices but he has to make several more!
We also have to be careful because the two high schools in the area are linked up, so some courses will be at one school and some at the other and of course, middle son cannot get himself between the two without getting lost or distracted..so we have to try to target subjects in just the one school.
Eldest us up for his ECG today, fingers crossed that goes ok.
My sons doing a level 2 BTEC apprentership in engineering Sue (hes 14) and he goes to another school and the local further ED. colledge for his lessons, the LA provide transport vis taxis or mini buses so transfers arnt a problem for us and if they were we would drive him but we even have to do less driving because the LA insist on driving him home.
Its so hard today to choose what our kids will study, gone are the days of standard lessons and (thank god) now there are subjects for people like my son whos skilled in other subjects than the traditional ones.
How did the ECG go?
My son hates them!0 -
Ok, so I took some extra tramadol as this cold I have was really affecting my HMS/fibro as the pain was everywhere and I couldn't get comfortable anywhere, in any position, which was horrendously frustrating. I managed to get about 4 hours sleep which is more than I was expecting, but now at almost 3am I am wide awake0
